@Kaikimi: The underlying point of my rant is not to remake. I love DW's sprites. I just needed to know how important collision is to 1up, or if I can use 2^X bounding boxes despite the size of the sprite.

its a little late, but i tried my hand at this style once more, edited old into better and newer, and nero.
also, is this project on hold or is there another forum where its being updated by Aunt Vag himself?

well, this is how far I was with the engine.

controls:
arrow keys = move
up = jump
ctrl = shoot
down + ctrl = super shoot thing

I also have enemies working along with explosion and sound effects made by myself

The sarcasm/self-pity came off a little strong there.

But 1up didn't tell you he fired you? I mean he came to me while you were still working on it, but I specifically told him not to fire you unless something was going seriously wrong.
