Castlevania Series
#16
Fullscreen on a 1680x1050 is a bit too much for me, I don't want my eyes to bleed. (j/k the later part). I'm getting my cartridge and undust my DS next, but I think I still around 60+ gameplay hours before it.

Anyway, I'm also excited about the Castlevania Adventure remake, the ReBirth one. Too bad Castlevania Legends isn't cannon anymore, I liked Sonia.

Sonia may have been an okay character but the whole game was horribly done and the story pretty much completely contradicted all of the established canon at that time.

It stills does contradict most of the cannon established. So far the current retcon is that Trevor was the first Belmont (at least FAMOUS Belmont) to defeat Dracula as we know him. There's still plenty of room between Leon and Trevor, or how Mathias became Dracula. Unless it was explained on Curse of Darkness, the only one I haven't beaten yet. I was outraged by the cute little fairy innocent devil or whatever and decided to ditch it for another game I got around the same time.

Now it contradicts it even more so; what I meant was that even at the time of its creation it did, which is why IGA retconned it around then or not long after.

And there are a lot of other innocent devils you get later on in the game, like golems and birds/dragons and a wizard that looks like that thing from He-man.

Maybe the upcoming 360/PS3 Castlevania is going to fix all that mess or create even more inconsistencies. But a Castlevania 3D...Don't know, I usually welcome new ideas but every Castlevania 3D I've played was a disaster.

I know that but I remember I got some other game at the time, and it was fun. I can't recall which game was, through. I believe it was an RPG.

Well, Lords of Shadow is being done by an entirely different group of people (MercurySteam, with oversight from Hideo Kojima) and looks to be shaping up to be a lot better than Lament or Curse. Although It is seriously lacking a Castlevania feel to it.

It's also generally thought to take place in a "timeline" of it's own, seperate from all the other Castlevania games.

That reminds me I still have to play MGS4 somehow, but from what I've watched my friend's boyfriends playing I was quite disappointed by it. I think I'll be getting a 360 or a PS3 when the new Splatterhouse game cames in. Or Castlevania.

Another timeline? Oh no, please, that they think they are doing? DC or Marvel comic books? .... Well...As long they don't call the Death Note guy again I think I can endure. I guess.

well, it's only really a new timeline if they specifically make sequels for it, which right now is... well, we have no idea. As of right now it's just stand-alone.

It it sells, it will get sequels, no doubt. And it got Alucard on it, he's becoming a sort of Konami's Cloud/Sephiroth, so many people are going to buy it. And got Hideo Kojima's name too. I'm going to TRY to think positive, for a change.

Actually it's unlikely it has Alucard in it - given the radically different style of the trailer shown by Igarashi at TGS before (where Lords of Shadow was announced at the same time; albeit, not under the Castlevania name) it's pretty much certain that that wasn't the same game.

As far as what that's doing, who knows~

And the guy, Dave Cox, behind Mercurysteam said that after Castlevania he'd like to tackle something else, like Contra.

Am I the only person alive who hates castlevania 1 and 3 on the NES?
I can't STAND the "classic" type castlevanias (including SCIV, etc).

However, I LOVED Castlevania II for the NES and I think all of the "Metroidvania" type games are amazing.

Not quite. I enjoy Castlevania III for the innovations but I can't stand the guys who liked the NES gameplay better. BECAUSE IT'S CLASSIC. It's not because it's classic you got to enjoy every single thing.
The idea of the mansions and the story of Castlevania II were pretty good (and they still good if you see some current games). Most of the Metroidvania are masterpieces if you ask me.

Well, I'm still going to try to hope for the best for the new title. But so far I'd love to see another 2D Castlevania on DS or even PSP.

I want to see a remake of Castlevana 2

I really do

think about this for a second: all the broken stuff that detracted from the game could be fixed,
the night/day system can have a nice, smooth transaction
it's Castletroid
they can add bosses to the mansions

I would have loved to see a DS remake :<

aaah fucking this
the closest thing to thatI have found is this
http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/aban...uest_.html
it's a great remake (though I haven't beaten it yet)

I actually attempted to make an updated, revamped version a year or two ago but failed miserably as I didn't know GML

BUT

now that I actually am learning GML (and actually know what I'm doing now) I might reattempt it. It's been on my mind.

hmm, okay as you guys are saying this it makes me want to download it again Big Grin
But are the other series like the ds version, fancy?
Because, for example, it gets all fancy like, bright colours, anime expressions on the icons of the characters, i hated that. srsly.
but now i wanna play the one that's coming out for ps3 ^^
I just thought of something funny...your mother.
