so over the summer i had to read the Great Gatsby, and I have to say, incredible book. Really entertaining, lots of good characters, it reall spoke to me.

A summary for those who don't know it...
Quote:the great gatsby is a fantasy sci-fi novel about a crew of star travelers aboard the starship serenity searching for the fabled "great gatsby", an instrument of great power

the crew includes:
lucas, the leader and most level headed the group
annie, a young girl and lucas' sister. despite her age she is one of the smartest characters, though she is prone to temper trantrums
bruce, an ex-ninja and the team's gadget expert
and RR-341, the ship's artificial intelligence with a sassy personality

along they way they have many run-ins with the mysterious rival group known only as the marauders, who seem to want the gatsby for their own evil intent

Bruce was the best character, I think. His ninja background was vital to the survival of the team during the purging - but I won't spoil that part for you!

I also read A Raisin in the Sun, another fantastic novel.
Quote:it's about this city named raisin, right?
the city is right in the middle of this huge desert and it's trapped in a state of perpertual heat

their last water supply has ran dry, and if nothing is done soon the townsmates will slowly die

so these two guys, dave and johnathan go out into the vast desert in search of food to save the town

eventually they find a town hidden deep underneath the desert san

they get the food, but the townsfolks can't trust them with their secrets so the two men are kidnapped and put on death row so they have to fight to save the city

Such a gripping tale.

The Great Gatsby of course! Remember when Lucas was watching old movies, and Pick spoiled it for him? Hilarious part!

Filler? The book had no filler parts, everything written had a purpose. Haven't you read the Sparknotes page?
