when I was seven I joined MFGG under the name Crazyboutluigi and made a couple posts in an unlocked sprite competition topic in the archives saying the next one should be Luigi

that thread is fucking ancient

I'll post mine from the other thread, then.

Quote:Well, let's see.

Back when we first got the internet (and running windows 95 and dial-up) back in like 1996 or so I would go to all the kids sites and play games. There was one site in particular that I can't remember the name of (It was like anansi's treehouse or something. I wish I remembered the name.) that I would ALWAYS go to and itn was pretty much the best site ever. Anyway, I would use the internet to look up game codes and stuff. I had been to CheatCC to find game codes after reading about it in a Nickelodeon magazine, and I liked it so I continued to go there.

One day though, I forgot CheatCC's web address, and I had long since thrown away the nickelodeon magazine with the information in it. Needing game codes, I went on Google and searched long and hard for it, putting in pretty much everything I could with the word cheat on the end. I came across various sites, one of which was Cheatingdome. (I eventually came across CheatCC, and laughed at how simple the web address really was.)

I eventually started going to cheatingdome to look for codes and stuff. There was a link at the bottom of every page that said "can't find the cheat that you're looking for? Try asking about it on the Forums!" at that time, I didn't know what a forum was and got annyoed every time I clicked on the link and it took me to a discussion board. However, I needed cheats, and eventually decided to sign up.

So, in 2003, when I was 12 years old, I signed up on the Cheatingdome Fourms. However, I needed a username. I tried using names such as Ultima Zero (we'll talk more about that later) but they couldn't be used. It just so happened that I was watching an episode of the Disney show, Recess while I was signing up. The main characters in the show were playing kickball, and their team was called the Vipersharks. I liked the name, so I stuck with it. Thus, Vipershark was born.

I posted at Cheatingdome quite regularly, and I really enjoyed it. I remember that I was terrible at posting when I first started. My first thread was called "I NEED IT QUICK!!!!! (and others)" and it was about Kirby cheats. I eventually became a much better poster. It was there that I got the red vipershark sig that I always use. I posted there for a LONG time, and I still visit sometimes. During my time at C/D, I became interested in creating my own forums.

The first forum I ever created was called The Nightmare Realm (which no longer exists) and used the xsorbit board system. It was named after the Soul Calibur character Nightmare, which was my obsession at the time. I even changed my username to Nightmare for a short time on this forum. I didn't like xsorbit's board system and invisionfree was much better anyway, so I stopped working on this before it was done.

So, I created a new forum called Gamers Universe using the invisionfree system. It was supposed to be like C/D on steroids, and had pretty much EVERYTHING relating to videogames. It even had links to roms and emulators available for download. Unfortunately, nobody joined so I was sorta out of luck because the forum was a bust and the project basically crashed.

I then started adminning a pokemon forum called The Pokemon League with an internet friend of mine named Jack. It was pretty active for its time, and we enjoyed running it. Unfortunately though, it sort of died out and lots of members left.

During my time at TPL I also co-adminned another forum called BE HORIFIED. It was pretty much a videogame discussion board. It died within a month or two. It was about this time that I started using AIM. The username Vipershark was taken, and I was at a loss for a name. I put in Ultima Zero, and it was taken. One of the name suggestions for it was Ultimzer, so I picked that and it stuck. Also during this time I started using Myspace during ninth grade. I used it for about a year and then saw how stupid it is and quit.

I then lurked the Pokecommunity forums, checking out the game hacks. I rarely posted.

I eventually went back to try to revive TPL. I got together with Jack and a few of my old friends from C/D, and we got it up and running great. Lots of new members joined, and we got some of the old ones back too. It grew a lot but that changed quickly when a member named Ice King Steven joined. There was just something about IKS that I didn't like, but I could never guess what it was. Despite my protests, Jack decided to make IKS an admin. In the span of a day, IKS hijacked my account, spammed every board, unbanned spammers, deleted our custom skin, and pretty much destroyed the board. He changed my password, but I was able to regain my account and check the admin logs to see that I had been the one causing the destruction the whole time. I checjked the IP log and saw that the last IP used on my account was different than mine, and checked it against IKS'. It matched. I locked IKS out of the Admin CP, but the damage was done. IKS had even taken control of Jack's account, but hadn't done anything. Luckily, Jack had the Admin CP's url saved in his bookmarks and was able to regain his account also and revert the forums back to how they were before the whole thing happened. Our skin was gone though, and we had to rebuild.

It was a bout this time that I first came to PT. There was an orange and black skin with Paper Mario on it. I came asking about sprites, but the members came off as really mean to me so I left.

This is when a member named BlueEew joined C/D looking for spriters to help him create a pokemon game. I agreed to help, and joined the Pokeproject Forums. We got off to a GREAT start. We had a lot of great ideas, and some great spriters. We were actually getting things done. But time passed. And passed. And passed. Our enthusiasm slowly dropped because BlueEew refused to release a game demo. Members drifted away. The game was supposed to be created by 2008, but we just sort of stopped working. Blue was promising us things but not following through with them. We all pretty much gave up on it. Blue surprised us all by finally getting webspace for Pokeproject.net and even got a VBulletin forum to go with it. But the damage was done. The project was dead. You can see his current site status at http://www.pokeproject.net/forums/index.php

Around this time, I decided to come back to PT. I knew that I had a bad experience the last time that I came, so I was sorf of prepared. I posed some lttp Link recolors. I got bad reviews. But I didn't give up and decided to lurk instead. After a while of lurking, I got bored and decided to start posting. And now I'm here.

I still go to C/D every year on my birthday though. They always remember it even though I don't show up much anymore. I pop in every once in a while during the year.

edit: vipershark: nah it's actually newer but the screen resolution screwed up a long time ago and i haven't gotten around to fixing it, it's actually helpful for doing pixel art imo heh
