praise glorious nippon
No even then it wasn't that big. In fact Metroid Zero Mision sold about as much as Prime did there.
But back with what you said about advertising. You gotta remember Pokemon IS a product. And sales depend on appeal to the audience. Bigger audience = bigger sales. Not everyone is a hardcore gamer. People are dumb. They want something they can look at and feel comfortable with. That's where simple designs kick in. (05-20-2010, 05:24 PM)Koopaul Wrote: No even then it wasn't that big. trying not to get too involved, but I've never heard anyone say "Wowza, that character looks so plain! I totally gotta get that game!"
One of my best friends got into pokemon only in the 3rd generation because the earlier designs looked "lame" and the new 'mons he liked (like torchic and claydol) looked "way more inventive" Thanked by: Gwen

Yep! I wouldn't mind having a theme team of all the 'ancient ruins' type Pokémon.
Solrock, Lunatone, Claydol, Regirock/ice/steel, Relicanth and some Fossils. It would be an awful team, but so much fun.

I think I might make a team entirely out of solrocks sometime
because, well solrocks

You gotta consider that males and college dudes aren't the only people playing Pokemon.
You may ask those guys what are their favorite Pokemon VS a younger or female audience. Pikachu was a brilliant design. His color, yellow, stands out as an attractive color. His round red cheeks stand out giving him a delightful disposition. His zig-zag tail inform you what powers this Pokemon has. It was really good! No wonder it was picked as the mascot character.

I came here expecting dogs, not arguments. I will have my fucking dogs, and your bullshit arguing can't stop it.
EDIT: I don't care if the arguing is over, the image will forever stay. Thanked by: Alpha Six, ThePortalGuru, Gwen, Gors, Cshad
