I like this idea, but we've tried to get the simplest character, Sukapon, done with no results.
My honest thought on Smash Bros Project

Gors is right. People are paying too much attention to perfection when the basics arent even there. I say that we at least create animations for each pose, attack and whatever for a couple of characters, then gradually move on to do more and more, without caring how crappy they look. At least we can easily come back to it later.

That's even worse compared to the SSBB project :o Wasn't that originally from Msytic forest zone or whatever the hell that site was called? we only have like one or two members working on it here and thats just about it. just speaking as a member though I think both projects will end up having the same fate as project prism from PT. I hardly really see any intrest in ether projects and like grooveman said, we don't have much organization far as having deticated staff. I mean, this is just like a house here, Lets say we are trying to build one per say, but we end up having a clusterfuck of people trying to add in so much detail onto it with no actual knowledge of what they're doing, nor the essential people that lead in any of those feilds. Geuss what happens? the house just falls apart. That happened to project prism in gaming developing terms and it will happen to ether of these if we don't do something about it.

maybe make a reward system or something? i dunno. this isn't a very motivated community
I don't think an award system is going to do much.

How about listing characters for an official 8 characters or so demo.

Well, Gooey already has a complete sheet, so we can mark him off the list. Sukapon probably has the most animations done out of any character in the new style (besides Gooey), so I think finishing Sukapon should be a definite priority.
I think it'd be nice if the 8 characters were characters that haven't yet been in a Smash Bros game before. My thoughts for the list: Characters: Gooey Sukapon Viewtiful Joe Deoxys Porky Little Mac Baby Bowser Waluigi Stages: Final Destination (Original variation of) Battlefield
I like the idea of a small game first.
We also need a solid looking demo that is NOT half finished to motivate people before we start making the entire game. I am also not much of a leader, but I'll program whatever you tell me to. So, would the small game consist of 100% new characters to smash bros? Or will we put in a few of the classic characters? We also could make the sprite animations choppy/with undetailed frames so it can be worked on later.Doesn't Smash Bros. Already have choppy animation, because of how fast-paced it is? ...But I agree that we should get the essentials out of the way first (08-24-2010, 05:34 PM)ThePoopPupu Wrote: Well, Gooey already has a complete sheet, so we can mark him off the list. I think we should try to make a few of the originals first...at the very least Mario, and Possibly Kirby Also, I know some people will probably be against this, but maybe we should also hold off on the Costumes, at least until there's much more Progress (Maybe release the Costumes as an Expansion or something, after we finish the original character first, of course) Thanked by: Ton, ThePortalGuru, Iceman404, Jdaster64, Gwen, redblueyellow

I think we should only have 5 characters.
Mario Kirby Gooey Sukapon Villager And 3 stages. Do with that what you will. Thanked by: ThePortalGuru, Iceman404, Jdaster64

I completely agree with Gorsal. We seem to have all bitten off more than we can chew.
Lets Start small, but not necessarily discontinue everything else, but get to them when/if we get more people later. Steps: -Start with 8 characters and 3 Stages. -Make bases for all their moves -Work on/refine the animations later. -Let Runow add them. -Beta Test the game. -Atleast come up with a title. -Publish game AND TSR. -Wait for fans. -Round up dedicated project leaders. -Bring back all our old ideas one by one. And so on... Thanked by: DioShiba, ThePortalGuru, D2S-Speed, Gwen

Ok, for 8 we should do 4 returning and 4 new as a hook, IMO.
Old; Mario, Link, Pikachu, ? (Not Kirby; too much with hats and stuff) New; Sukapon, Gooey, Porky?, ?

i think kirby should probably be in because he'll be hella easy to animate, even with the hats, and worst case scenario we can just have it so he just copies their powers without their hats
also i nominate viewtiful joe for final newcomer because i have a bunch of animations for him already done |
