2. Are you using a cracked version.
1. As I said, I only used it because it came pre-installed.
2. Yes, but the crack itself is not infected with anything (it's not the Dr XJ crack btw). I've used the crack before I had my desktop and when I got my desktop, I instantly copied the exact Game Maker folder from my laptop to my desktop, so Trend would've most likely detected anything strange before. Also, if I try to start Game Maker via uncracked executable, it doesn't even start up at all. It appears in the processes menu for a few seconds then disappears.

I tried System Restore to the latest date before Game Maker stopped working, but that didn't fix it.

it looks like trend may have quarantined the file and messed with its permissions.

You said you uninstalled Trend... are you sure it's completely gone?

I'm pretty sure. After uninstallation I checked both Program Files folders and there was nothing in either of them, not sure where Trend may have anything else. I'll check both Game Maker's and Softwrap's permissions.

Fuck, I can't find anything that will help.
Well, System Recovery has fixed a computer I had in the past and it didn't delete the user files (though I did have to reinstall programs).

wait where is the double post extender thing

1) Navigate to this directory on your computer: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
2) Right click the folder Documents
3) Select Sharing and Security
4) Under the section Network sharing and security, place a check mark in the box next to Share this folder on the network.
5) Apply changes. If at this point you get an error, repeat steps 4 and 5 again.

(You'll notice that Documents folder has changed to Shared Documents)

6) Game Maker 7 should now run as normal.

I already found and tried that before and it didn't help. Also I'm running GM8 so yeah.

So System Recovery orked as expected. Sorry about the lack of double-u, I'm posting this from my laptop and that key broke a hile ago.

My computer randomly shuts off internet access, and I click diagnose and repair, it tells me that a cable is unplugged, I go down stairs, unplug all cables(to the router), plug them back in, go back up stairs and my internet is still down and the only way to fix is to shut my computer off and turn it back on.

Try reinstalling the driver for it.

Is there any way to back up an entire hard drive? You know - to like an external hard drive or something. I want to install another OS on my secondary laptop and if I mess it up, I can't be assed to spend another 10 hours rearranging everything on my hard drive how I want it - I just wanna copy that state the HDD is in back onto my laptop. >>

It's only 40GB capacity so it's not like totally gargantuan

Yes. Look up clonezilla.
I'm unsure if it'll clone onto an external drive, but if you can pop your laptop drive into a desktop and have a spare 40gb drive, it'll work.

Or you could just go into your C drive and manually move all the folders inside. That'll ensure you get all your files and stuff, but obviously you can't boot off of the drive because your registry and stuff won't be intact. It's the easiest way to do it though, and you still get all your stuff.
