Anatomy, motherfucker.
Have you taken it.
EDIT: To avoid going off-topic, I'm all for the idea of an energetic idle for Samus.

Stop trying to make new idles. This isn't SSF2. I can't believe I have to say this more than once.

Four (don't quote me on that, I was referring to active spriters)? Sure, they may not be as refined and polished as the ones here, but you cannot deny that they're actually getting somewhere in decent time. -.- Quality over quantity, my friend. It doesn't matter "how fast" they're going, especially for a project like this that doesn't have a deadline. We have better things to do, so most of us aren't focusing on this project.
And on that note, if I see any more posts about SSF2 or McleodGaming I'm dishing out warns. We're not either of those things so you're gonna have to drop that mentality.

It is still a shaky as hell animation which is the obvious work of someone just trying to make a bunch of sprites instead of quality.

While Clash's attitude may not be the best, he does kind of have a point.. are you guys sure Samus isn't going to look a bit off from the others if she's completely side on?
Am I the only one that actually kinda liked Clash's edit?

Because that has nothing to do with anything due to the fact that these are two completely different projects on two completely different websites. Fix your attitude or leave, because I nor the rest of the community need to tolerate you acting like an ass, especially on this project.
And no, it'll be fine. Samus isn't the only one that'll be facing forward like that. And if need be, we can change it later. She has other animations that need to be done, and the idle is just for having a good reference point to base the animations off of. Besides that-- really the only thing that needs to be fixed is her legs and maybe part of her size.
On that note-- how do you guys feel about making Samus's animations more actiony/stylish ala Other M?

Actually Clash's edit to include the left shoulder makes Samus look fat all around.
About Other M:
I was thinking what if Samus was converted to her Other M style, but I never brought it up as I'm unsure if the Other M version should be an alternate version of Samus. The Other M Power Suit would be easier to handle due to it having less details.
I wouldn't be opposed to Samus having her Other M combat style though regardless of which style of Samus wields it.

Whenever I stare at the Metroid Other M Samus for too long I only see a strawberry garnished margarita with a blaster.
Joking aside, I like the other M appearance better than the classic Samus. Yes it's more simplistic, but isn't that a good thing when working with sprites? I don't really know if there would be any complications in switching over to another look? Then again I am not aware of the progress you people have made with Samus?
Is there any reason not to make Samus in the other M style?

I thought the idea of Smash was to feature sort of 'merged' character designs that loosely represent EVERY incarnation of the character? I don't like the idea of just constraining any character to one design, be it Other M or otherwise. Maybe try the Brawl design with less details and slimmer features to implement Other M into it?
Also, this is a little off topic, but does this project plan to make unique "facing left" sprites for characters like Samus?

Besides, Other M Samus is still Samus. Just better animated.

we pretty much are using the other m design except orange instead of yellow (which imo looks better anyway)
we have a sleeker, less detailed version of the brawl design, which is pretty much exactly what the other m design is.

I know the moveset isn't really your focus right now, but..
It's always driven me crazy how Samus never uses the power beam. (She uses the charged power beam, but is THAT rapid-fire slight pwnage?)
Are you guys going to base her off the original moveset with modifications, or do something like.. the power beam? ;-;

Love Metroid so I remade Samus with more of her Other M style.
Now she looks more feminine...
Something still bothering me with her left leg.
