and why does it bother you so much that i have what appears to be a visual opinion, just because i criticized it? it didn't say "its sonic 3 in sonic 2" i said it LOOKS like sonic 3 and sonic 2 and thats because sonic doesn't really look like how he did in sonic 2 and more like how he does in sonic 3

All the animations are based upon Sonic 2's, which made me wonder what exactly of Sonic 3 you were seeing in it. You didn't specify what of Sonic 3 it looked like so I really didn't know what the fuck you were trying to say with that. It could have been anything else other than just how Sonic looks, because you didn't specify or explain anything at all. Lazy posts that says nothing like that really fucking bothers me.

Also that sprite is from Sonic 1/Sonic CD. If you see the sprite-sheet that Tyvon linked, you'll see the exact same frame looking almost the same. :I

and i think the sprites look the same to sonic 3's because of the overall build they have. sonic 2 hd's quills look thicker than sonic 2's originals. as well as the pupils are smaller and more focused to the right side of his eye. though when i look closer i can see sonic 2 and hd's shading are much more similar

like i said i'm only going on by what the main, shared sprites look like. calm the fuck down

if i was actually bashing the game for it, then you getting mad over it would have made sense :c

the only similiarity that I see, as you said, is because the pupils aren't as thick, which is understandable because they seem to be trying to replicate the original artworks.

I highly disagree, this has a lot of polish in it. I now see that the mix of gradients and vectors is to mimic the japanese classic Sonic artworks, while still trying to be faithful to the original graphics. Just take a look and percieve the details:

You have to realize, the games have completely different goals here. Sonic Fan Remix is trying to do something completely new, with its 2.5D gameplay, original level design, and brand new scenery. This project isn't trying to be anything more than a facelift of an old game. Earthworm Jim HD did essentially the same thing, and it was pretty widely praised. The two projects are different beasts entirely.

I disagree about being a scaled-up version with awful rendering. What is with the whole rivalry of Fan Remix and Sonic 2 HD in this thread anyway? I'll be in fucking heaven if either one of those projects ever get completed :I But I gotta say that this one kind of strikes me better because the graphics don't get dirty and clustered like Sonic Fan Remix gets, even though Sonic Fan Remix has god fucking damn beautiful 3D graphics outside that.

Sonic Fan Remix is more of a complete re-interpretation while Sonic 2 HD is pretty much trying to just facelift and update the original - staying really close to the original japanese artworks and all.
