TSR PokeDex Project
The thing is, you used black inside the sprite, which makes the first one's face looked f'd up.
The second one needs contrast, and the third one.. Does it have shading?

I think the best out of the three is the second.

Welp I was tinkering around with your anemone Snare and I got this.

Yeah I don't know I thought it would look cute in a dress but...

Also I came up with a Koala Pokemon concept.

Finally here's a concept of the Paper Crane Pokemon for one of the legendary trios I was talking about earlier. It's just a concept so it doesn't look really good.

I really love what you did with the anemone! 8D

I want to start making some more mons, now.

I Love that Koala♥
The only thing is, if it's a paper Crane, it shouldn't be quadripedal, and I think it should be flying, like the lati's

The Anemone reminds me of a Fry Guy from McDonald's. I do think it's a good direction to go, though.

The crane does remind me of Digimon, esp. with the armor.
That koala, though! Cute

Well its not supposed to be a Flying type is Fighting, also without legs it remind me a lot of Creselia for some reason. Either way its still an early idea and it needs a lot of work.

The third bug pokemon is based on this caterpillar I read about once.
When in danger, it shows off its underside, which has patterns similar to a seviper
Its evolutions could use more powerful Pokemon as camouflage. Like the pupa stage could pretend to be Lairon when seen from the back.

Ah yes I like that idea of the caterpillar. But maybe it should disguise itself as Pokemon from this Pokedex?

I do agree with the caterpiller, and yeah, maybe we could make another snake pokemon, it could be based off of an viper, or anaconda or something....

EDIT: I also forgot, how about a peacock/peafowl?, I don't think Nintendo/Gamefreak made one yet...
Thanked by:
How about water-based snake, a la sea snake?
but then it wouldn't make sense to be camouflaged as that :/

Hm, there's actually a snake in real life, the hognose snake... He's quite the dramatic fellow and will actually mimic a cobra by flaring his hood and hissing as part of his elaborate performance to ward off predators... Problem: The hognose lives in North America... Cobras are only endemic to Asia and Africa.

How could it mimic something that doesn't live there?! (Well, I guess the sight of a flared hood and hissing snake would still be spooky enough to scare off things even if they don't know what a cobra is...)

There's a bit of food for thought, the caterpillar still makes sense if it mimics a seviper.

That actually sounds like a good idea.

As for some evolutionary lines, how about a line of grayish owls (yes, grayish. Why? See below) for one of the more uncommon birds, and, I dunno, a tree Pokémon. One that changes forms with the seasons.

Also, as for some of the legendaries... to go with the more modern influences of some legendaries (such as Mewtwo and Genesect being modernized versions of Frankenstein's Monster), how about we have a trio of legendaries based on urban legends. I know this is a bit too early, but I really wanna get this idea out before I forget about it.

Now, we could go for the obvious ones (Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, etc.), but I had a bit more unique idea.

Now, they would all share one type in common (say, ghost, due to their elusive nature). As for what they'd be based on...

One based on the Mothman. This would be either ghost and flying or ghost and bug, and would be a large, grayish, owl/moth/human hybrid with huge red eyes. It would either have a very large head, or the eyes would be on its chest (think Hitmonlee). The eyes would be like those of an insect, while it would have large, birdlike wings. Its legs would be more birdlike or humanlike than insectoid, while it would have feathery antennae. It could be either hairy like a moth, or feathered like a moth. Either one would work As for its pokedex entries, one would say that before its discovery, it was believed that sightings of it were of overgrown [final form of owl above], and other would state that it seems to appear shortly before disasters (based on how it appeared around a bridge near where it was first sighted shortly before it collapsed, and how it was sighted flying near the World Trade Center shortly before 9/11).

Another one based on the Chupacabra. As for typing, maybe ghost and ground. It would be a brownish or greenish imp-like creature, with a large head, large eyes, sharp teeth and claws, etc. You can take this in whatever direction you want, as long as it seems intimidating. One pokédex entry would state that it is known to suck the blood of the fire starter, another saying that it has been mistaken for a highly mutated version of some monkey Pokémon (based on the theory that it was some sort of deformed monkey.

Last, and especially not least, one based on one of the more recent and obscure creature-related urban legends, Slenderman. This one would be Ghost/Grass (due to it supposedly being some sort of forest spirit). It, like Giratina, would have two forms. They would be the more Physically-oriented Humanoid Forme , and the more Specially-oriented Arboreal Form. In terms of physical appearance, both forms share a pale gray head, a black torso with a pale gray patch at the top, making the body resemble a suit, a red, necktie-like leaf sprouting from the top of this gray patch, and, where its face would be, an X-shaped marking or carving. Its Humanoid Forme would have two arms and legs with pale gray hands and feet with a pale gray tentacle coiled around each arm. Its arboreal form would instead have several black tentacles in place of its arms. The black parts would look like they're made of some sort of papery bark (similar in texture to that of a birch tree), and the gray patches would appear to be made of wood. Overall, it would have a more stylized and tree-like appearance than typical depictions of Slenderman. As for Pokédex entries, one would state that it has been known to cause mysterious disappearances, and the other would state that while it mainly targets children, it has been known to go after older targets.

As for locations, the Chupacabra Pokémon would be found near some sort of ranch (Like Moo Moo Ranch, but with one of the evolved forms of the Fire starter), the Mothman Pokémon would be found near a large suspension bridge, and the Slenderman Pokémon (Slendermon?) would be found in a large (possibly haunted) forest.

Now, I know that this is too early to be talking about legendaries, but maybe when we actually do get to that point, we could consider using these.

I don't want to overdo it on the the cryptids. Pokemon are mostly based off of myths and there is a difference between cryptids and myths. Slenderman is not getting in. I want to make a Pokedex with ideas that seem very similar to what Game Freak might do.

Thanked by:
Slenderman was intended to be treated as a fake mythological creature in the Something Awful thread that it originates from, but I see your point.

But can we at least keep the tree and owl ideas for common/uncommon Pokémon?

Also, I agree that we should come up with a new snake. And that we shoud have the caterpillar's evolved forms mimic more powerful Pokémon.
Thanked by:
yeah, I have an idea for it, it is mostly based off of a Deinagkistrodon, or also known as a sharp-nose viper here is the info about it, along with the image (the one right there)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinagkistrodon

I'll show the image another time though, because I wanted to see what other people could come up with first.
