kirby !!

That could explain it. I mean I found Super Mario 64 really difficult when I was a lot younger. Coming back to the game later, I saw how wrong I was about that.

Kirby games generally aren't that hard unless you go for 100%. The only game that I found legitimately easy to 100% was Squeak Squad, I actually managed to speed run it in about 2 hours. But otherwise, if you're looking for a challenge in Kirby, try to do all of the extra stuff or go to the boss rushes.

That's generally what I end up doing, but most of the time its still fairly easy in comparison to the more difficult modes of other platformers. Still, I love the series and always end up enjoying playing through its games.

Can't wait for this. I do wonder about those two other new abilities: the cannon-like one and the last one that created a rainbow.

(I can only imagine what enemy gives the Cowboy Ability)

I skipped out on Epic Yarn; just hoping this one is more epic. And to be honest, I kinda like those "ultimate skills". They seem fun to execute.

Epic Yarn is good. You're not a true kirby fan if you don't buy it.

because you are in a position to tell someone they are not a 'true' fan of something

unless you're a nintendo employee of course

Epic Yarn still isn't out over here yet.

But it's gonna be a day 1 purchase for sure; I don't know why a Kirby fan wouldn't want to buy it.

I find Kirby's Epic Yarn to be really, really lackluster. The graphics are cool and everything, but it just doesn't feel like a Kirby game. I think part of the fun of Kirby was sucking up enemies and getting their powers; it was the thing that set it apart from other platformers. Now that's gone, and.. well.. decorating houses and turning Waddle Dees into balls.

Now, don't hate me for saying this. I know some of you think Epic Yarn is the messiah of Kirby gaming, and that's just my opinion, nothing more.

About the new game: Whip Kirby? Wave Kirby? Kirby 64 II?

SO there.

(If you want a challenge, try Kirby and the Amazing Mirror's Boss Rush.. jeezum!)

Epic Yarn is just way too easy. I understand Kirby games aren't meant to be hard, but there's a point where a game becomes so easy the fun starts degenerating quickly.

I could only have fun playing with a friend, while inadvertently being assholes to each other a la NSMBWii.

As people said before, it's really easy. Specially if you compare to any other NES game of the time.

It's nothing new, all games had certain objects that could be only destroyed or interacted with only with a certain ability (like Hammer or Fire) and Squeak Squad stepped that up a tiny notch with burnable, cuttable and electrifiable plants, floor and stuff.

Epic Yarn is no messiah or anything, but it is a really good twist on the kirby formula and a really good original platformer overall. As it was already discussed on the Epic Yarn thread, Kirby isn't just about the same Kirby's Adventure-like gameplay, Kirby had a lot of different sorts of gameplay over the years and they're all really good (see: Air Ride). Or would you like them to just do a mediocre game that uses the same gameplay over again with almost no new things to it (as Squeak Squad did)

Also Epic Yarn's difficulty isn't about beating it (you can't die anyway) but about getting Gold medals in all levels - and that requires not getting hit much and getting tons of beads. If you fall once you can kiss that medal goodbye, because you'll lose a shit-ton of beads. Even though it is easy, it's a really charming and original platformer, every stage welcomes you to a unique atmosphere and stage elements, every new stage is a new, creative experience, and that is what I really love about Kirby's Epic Yarn.

I never touched Epic Yarn but it sounds more like Jungle Beat, in the sense it has mid difficulty, but the real deal is to get as many points as possible. While I like action-oriented games more, this is also a valid way to make the game challenging.

I really liked what I saw. It's good to go back on the old formula sometimes, if refreshed with new concepts.
