So i found an older sprite my bro once made and decided to make a bigger version.

This is my first try at making a bigger pixelart.

Very low contrast, and the face nearly looks pillowed.

also judging from the sprite, there should be some cleavage visible.

I don't even know where to start with this. You might be aware of the existence of ribcages. It's where people - even women - keep their lungs. You seem to have replaced it with perfectly spherical sacks of fat hanging off of her collarbone.
Don't do that.

I get what you mean and tried to fix the problems. But just next time leave the sarcasm... It doesn't motivate me to improve my work and doesn't make me respect you more.

I agree, you didn't need to do it like that. Next time try to be concise and direct without coming over as a smart arse.

There are a few things that catch my eye. Firstly, the cut on the tee shirt seems too perfect to be torn, although it could be a parting in which case maybe make it a bit smaller.

I also don't like the highlight on the bandanna, there's to much contrast. So maybe try to bring it down a bit. I'm not even sure you need it tbh. It depends on the material, higher contrast would be better for a silk like material, I don't think thats what your going for.

The biggest problem I find with this PA is the facial anatomy. Theres a lot going on there, the eye isn't in perspective and possibly to big.The shading should be used to show a bit more form and dimension. At the moment it looks a bit flat.

If anything that's the only area with ENOUGH contrast. The rest of the shading may as well not be there at all, since you can't really see it.

I agree about the anatomy, though. In fact, the anatomy of everything in the sprite is more or less totally wrong.

Are you looking for excuses to avoid improvement?
If you want to improve, you want to improve. Someone being sardonic on the internet should have little or no affect on that. My advice doesn't stop being educated just because I'm curt.

I don't see as you've changed much at all on the torso - if indeed, you've changed anything at all. She still doesn't appear to have a ribcage.

As for not knowing what to do with her arms -- and I've said this to so many people, I think it might be becoming a risk factor for tendonitis -- is that you need to plan out the pose before you start doing any detailing. The comparison I always use is this: you don't start wallpapering your house before you've even finished building a foundation. You should absolutely understand the importance of planning and sketching before you get caught up with details - for one, if you notice an error when you've only done a loose plan, it's far easier to fix than if you were to spend an hour detailing and only then realise that there's something the matter with your structuring.

Basically, all of the most glaring flaws in this would be solved by planning and trying to understand the underlying structure you're working with. You don't have to understand and memorise absolutely every single bone and muscle in the body, but at least sketch a loose skeleton and establish the head and ribcage as 3d, so you have something to build upon.

Work your way through these -- I'd personally suggest doing it with a good old-fashioned paper and pencil, because it's a lot easier to get a sense of flow with a tactile medium like conventional drawing than it is with pixelling, and then apply what you've learned about visualising the figure as a 3D form to your sprites.

Yes, too much contrast there. But I agree 100% about the lack of contrast. I also think there should be a bit more of a hue shift in some places. Things like these will be learn't with experience. There's a lot I could mention to fix, but I'm short of time and would have to be followed by a drawing, link or edit. I might do that tomorrow(emphasis on might), I find this the best way to get a point across. Also, Tachikoma's last post was very informative with a lot of relevant ways of improving your understanding and quality of pixel art exponentially.

What? I'm no spriter but knowing what these terms mean, but the part of your post that I bolded make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. Also I think that the colors on the bandanna is fine and that he should work on making the rest of the colors as interesting as the one on the bandanna.

Also you should think more about what you post. You don't have to give false hope of an edit to help or contradict yourself in the same post, then say how much you like Gillian's post. For this doesn't help the OP any at all and comes off confusing as well. Not to mention if you really like Gillian's post that much, we do have a thank button. Telling us that you agree in a separate post, no matter how you word it, is considered spam in this area.
