Make sure you guys get the special event pokemon Victini, while it's still up.
I caught it earlier with a great ball.

At the main menu just go to mystery gift, and select wifi.
You'll get a ticket for a boat trip, which you can retrieve from the delivery man inside every pokecenter.
When you get to the town with the 3rd gym, you can get a boat out to libery island where you can catch it at level 15.

The promo ends soon so be quick.

by soon you of course mean April 10th (22nd for you Europeans)

Apparently the liberty ticket is a normal item and not a key item. I ended up getting my hand on a few extra ones if people need them.

Just started the second gym. I've caught a bunch, but my only permanent member is a level 21 Servine. Gonna need to grind a bt fi I want to beat this gym with one Pokemon. But IIRC this gym leader has a setup pokemon before her tough one, so I can Leech Seed and the use a few Growths to be able to take things out real quick.

EDIT: Worked like a charm on the first try. Wasn't expecting Hypnosis, but no big problem there. Leech Seed was great because, by the time I had two Growth's stacked up, over half of Watchog's health was gone and there was no was he was surviving a Leaf Tornado

Just beat the first gym about 2 hours ago, now I'm just going around exploring, I got a blitzle, and I think Wotter is about to evolve, love this game.

Oh so Emoglas are not affected by ground type moves and only do terrible against Ice.

There are no ice pokemon or TMs around.

Oh wait nevermind, Rock moves do a thing too
