this is the main reason why I'm getting it.

I have to admit however, there is actually a pretty good launch line-up considering some of the circumstances. Pilotwings Resort is bound to be great.

nintendo said themselves that they aren't planning any hardware updates to the 3ds for at least 2 years or so

At this point in time? That's impossible, unless they push it back a month and take all of they're inventory back, and spend extra cash for minor issues.
Besides, the 3d is more then just a gimmick, it is actually supposed to make 3d plat formers easier, as well as other games becuase it gives a sense of depth, which is supposed to enhance your experience.

And the game quality standard is to be much higher, the fact that people would pass on this portable simply becuase they don't like a "Gimmick" and don't even consider the potential that has and will be shown in the future is quite laughable. And the fact that the games mentioned as "not worth it" for the portable as a whole are the remakes. Lol.

You don't NEED to use it. It has plenty of other features that are worth the wait aswell. Not to mention that the good graphics save for the bad 3D aspect of it, and the fact that DS games will stop selling

perhaps i'm biased against 3d because of my vision problems making it difficult to see, but i doubt many (if any) people with 20/20 vision will use the 3d all the time/at all either

I love that a lot of people are saying they will buy it because they will stop making DS games... In other words, you're buying it because it's new, not because it bring any extra functionality for you. The improved graphics are pretty good, sure, but at this time you have the option of buying a number of games that don't use the touch screen feature, an are released on other consoles with better graphics - Resident Evil is a great example of reselling a game that was purely a minivane from Resi 4.
OoT is selling to users again for the 4th time now I believe.. With just the 3D feature added. A feature everyone says they don't care about.

Uhh, not to downplay you here buddy, but OoT is a complete remake of the original OoT and is including improved functionality, a restructured Water Temple, OoT Master Quest, a high definition graphical update/facelift (it's not just improved textures, the models themselves are actually being improved), and probably a few other new things that haven't been mentioned. It's definitely not just the 3D.

I'll believe it when we see it... Not only that, but not to say it's pointless but we also already had Master Quest before OoT 3D - it'll be the second time they sell the same game to us with that cookie.

It appears to me that Nintendo have given up on new ideas, and are working on just reselling old games with minor changes, and spending ages doing so. Perhaps that's just me, but I've given up on buying old games again - Star Fox, Zelda, Mario All Stars, etc. etc.

The flaw in that is that Master Quest is part of the collector's edition, so not everybody got the chance to experience it-- which is honestly why I think Nintendo has picked up the idea to not only recreate OoT, but add in that bonus package as well. You're essentially getting two 20 hour+ games for the price of one 4 hour game.

Full price might be enough to turn people off, but when you consider the idea I think it's quite a fine step they've taken with the project.

As for Nintendo running out of ideas: they just resurrected Kid Icarus, we've got Skyward Sword coming, and Super Mario Bros. 3DS. There might be a few others as well, but those are the top 3 I can think of. It's not like Nintendo have suddenly become Remakes and Ports: The Company, because that's beyond far from the case. In fact-- Capcom "rehashes" wayyyyyyyyyy more than Nintendo.

And when it comes down to it, I'm pretty sure the repackaging of All-Stars is one of the few remakes Nintendo's ever done where they didn't put heart and soul (and extra shit) into it (and even then: you'd be getting a better bargain by buying the All-Stars collector's edition than by buying all 3 VCs separately, since you're getting the improved SNES versions AND the art book, which is a collector's item).
Kirby Super Star Ultra is a great example, considering they redid the graphics for the entire game and packaged a bunch of new features into it. Zelda: A Link to the Past GBA? You got improved graphics, bug fixes, improved sound files, and Four Swords, Nintendo's first venture into multiplayer Zelda. And while Link's Awakening was, for the most part, just an update for a new console, they did include an entirely new dungeon if you played on a GBC. Hell, OoT itself falls into this update pattern as well with Master Quest-- sure, it was essentially still OoT, same storyline, same characters, but the new dungeon layouts were an incredible feature, especially considering the length of the game and the overall appreciation people had for OoT. Handing the Zelda fan a new experience for one of their favorite games is a sure way to not only gain further respect and hype from your fans, but to create a fresh experience with a well-known classic.

Whenever Nintendo remakes a game, you're guaranteed to get your money's worth. And if there's one thing I've always been able to respect Nintendo for, it's in them being able to make even a simple remake feel fresh.

Probably the reason they keep remaking OoT is because it was called the best game of all time?

If I were to already own a 3DS, I might buy it myself but I'm not going out of my way just to get that game in the least, even if it was pretty much a whole new game almost.

If I had gotten one for free somehow, I'd most likely take it, sure. But like I've said before I really don't want one, despite that a game I really enjoy will be totally redone in a whole new way on it.

OoT has only been remade once, and it's this one coming out for the 3DS. It's been ported to the GameCube twice and put on Virtual Console, but those are only ports. OoT3DS is a full-blown remake in every sense of the word.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking of all those ports.
I would really like to see it (and play it) but I'm just against buying another system I guess.
I have a DS Lite I haven't played in a while (I'm sure most of you can see where most of my time goes every day), and a PSP with Sonic Rivals 2 and Mega Man Powered Up! (one of the best Mega Man games of all time which NEEDS a sequel), not to mention my Wii with some Wii games and a mini library of amazing GameCube games that I play when I'm home.
I do think OoT will be awesome and I gotta admit I do wish I could play it, but my decision still stands.

EDIT: I'm also still pretty interested in that new Paper Mario game...

not to mention that your argument makes no sense

you seem to be forgetting that the 3DS is fuckloads more powerful than the DS, and is the next complete iteration of the system rather than a hardware update like the lite/dsi

edit: ^^ aimed at dazz ^^

edit again: the argument that the 3DS is "just another system" is extremely stupid as well
that's like saying there's no reason to get an xbox 360 because it doesn't offer anything over your OG Xbox

this is an entirely new console generation, not a hardware update
there's a large difference there

to say that it's just another system would be logical if you were referring to, say, the Lite, DSi, or DSiXL, but those were just updates to the same system

I never said it was just another system, I know it's totally new. I just don't want it for now, even if there are gonna be some pretty awesome games on it.

I may get it someday, but not now. And I know you're all against me on that but that's fine, I just don't want it at this time.
