Or to stop people just importing games from countries with weaker economies and effectively crippling the games retail industry in their country of origin?

No wait, I take that back, they just do it because they don't want to let you play their games, developers hate people playing their games.

>developer still gets paid for the game
>crippled economy

You have to follow the chain forwards a few steps, economics is never cut and dry.
As an example, let's say for some reason there was a game released in the states and in Europe and there's no region lock, it could be any region at all, but I pick those two just because of the common language and because the American economy is pretty suppressed right now.
Now, I could go down to the local game store and buy it, OR I could import the US version at a cheaper price, it's pretty obvious which one makes the most sense, and on a small scale, that would be fine.
However, if it was a more widely viable option, nobody would bother buying games from local stores anymore, which means all the money that would be being put back into the local economy is instead being put into the American economy.

Now it gets a little confusing at this point, so bare with me if I'm not as clear as I could be.
Since game sales in Europe would take a major dive, less games would be brought and sold here, meaning for a game store to stay a viable option, they would have to charge more, or more likely, just close up shop.
And because developers are getting less sales in Europe and more in US markets, they are far more likely to release games tailored to that region.
(Granted it's not that big of a deal between these two in particular, but imagine if we were talking the US and Asian regions, not all Asian games appeal to an American audience)

So we hit a point where we're importing games intended for another region, and bolstering their economy while weakening our own, this means not only are we getting games that don't appeal to local consumers, but also that they're costing us more because of the difference between the two currencies, we COULD then switch back to buying games locally because there's no worry about exchange rates and import taxes, but because the local industry has become less viable we would still end up paying more than we did previously, assuming there are any stores still competing with the cheaper import market.

I so haven't been awake long enough to think about this stuff, my brain hurts.

TL;DR,
If everyone imported games they would cost more.
Economics is fucking confusing.

They can be a bit funny if you're at the wrong angle, I think. When I tried playing with them while I was sitting at my desk, the character cards in particular were kind of twitchy, but once I used my kitchen table and stayed standing up, it worked a lot better.

Anyways, I tried the AR cards standing up and it's still being piss hard to get them to work, because I'm getting a shit load of messages saying that I'm using more then one card or that it can't read it.

I think something is wrong with my AR cards.

speaking of fun with importing games, the onyl way to get the spanish version of pokemon black/white here in chile is by directly importing it from spain. the copies being sold in the retail stores are the US english version.

wich is the most retarded thing i have ever seen in my life.
Why don't they sell the Spanish versions where you are? Do they think Chileans wouldn't like B/W? Or they think everyone can understand English like you? That does sound pretty dumb to me.

Wonder when I'll be able to transfer my DSiWare games to my 3DS... There needs to be an update first. that's just silly how you just can't do that now!

Every time I post something someone says something to go against it... I wonder why that is... I just posted my opinion it wasn't exactly the same things (regarding that they might think your people don't like the game) you said...

But it doesn't matter I won't be posting in this thread anymore because I really don't care about the 3DS, so seeya. (And I don't want anyone to thank this post I already know people would be happier to not see me post here as everything I post seems to not be useful. And I don't really take this personally per say so don't say that please)

Once you get used to the 3D it's pretty sweet. For the most part it just makes things seem like "clearer" or something.
The best use of the 3D I've seen so far though was on the AR fishing game. I caught a shark and found that while looking at it it looks like the sharks head comes out of the screen like an inch and a half or two.

Seems to work better than the 3D TVs I've seen (had a few demonstrations of them, don't own a 3D TV) but still has that weird look to it. Can't explain it any better than it being like a "black shine" to everything.

But yeah, it's 3D. As there isn't a single launch game that interest me enough to buy one myself (been playing my brothers who got it a day before launch thanks to Tescos). Wish Nintendo would stop using fucking sliders though - hate the shit out of those things. The lack of a second analog stick is also a bit saddening as a 3D FPS on the go would be all the nicer with it.

And as cool as the cards are the novelty soon wears off (just like Invisimals on the PSP was fun for a whole hour). I'll keep my eye on it but so far the sheer power the NGP promises is keeping my cash in my wallet.
