Captain Silver (Master System) Playable Character Another "weird looking game", there's plently of strange looking games on the Master System considering that many people ignore the console and it wasn't popular anywhere except Europe and South America. Speaking of which, this was ripped from the Japanese/European version instead of the US/Brazilian version due to the fact that the American version cut a lot of the game out to cartridge costs (two stages, bits of stages, most bosses and many enemies were removed making a hard game easy). Sukeban Deka II (Master System) Playable Character Half adventure game, half Renegade clone with the difficulty to match. Thanked by: Ton

The Master System was only popular on Brazil, the rest of southamerica either gave it a lukewarm welcome (such as in Argentina) or simply ignored it, such as in Chile here.
Still, good to see somebody ripping sprites from such a finicky system as the MS, Yawa. Thanked by: Yawackhary

Fantastic Dizzy (Genesis) Playable Character It's been a while since I last ripped a Genesis game so I thought that I rip while resting with the Master System stuff. After finishing the rip and the icon, it started to rain. Concidence? Anyway, feel free for the Dizzy community (yes, there is one believe it or not) to use this rip for their games. Thanked by: Ton

HELL YEAH!
The games were tougher as nails, but hell if they weren't nicely done, especially the ones from the Spectrum days. The sheet is missing Dizzy's diving sprites with the aqualung and diving mask, though.

Thanks for letting me know (since you're better at these games than me, I just rip whats in ROM and they are compressed, would have to play the game at a certain point), I just tried the aqua lung right now and his dying sprites recycle his back facing jumping sprites just with some bubbles on a different layer. I don't know where his diving mask is though so I don't know where his diving sprites are. If there's anymore missing poses, please let me know if there are any.

If I remember correctly (it has been a LONG time) Dizzy's expression and idle animatiions also changed depending of the weather, energy level and map location, for example he makes a sad face if he stands under the rain without the umbrella and I -think- he made a scared face during the graveyard stage.

Right, after seeing a complete long play of the entire game on Youtube and giving another few goes, sadly it does seem that the sprites are complete. There are no unique diving sprites since it recycles the jump poses and while it is raining, only the idle pose feels depressed or worried (which is on the 5th row of the sprite sheet). It seems to be the Genesis version is a bit lazy and corners were cut, looking at the Amiga version seems to be the same as well. Plus the Genesis version cuts out Dizzy Down the Rapids minigame too.
However after looking at the NES/Master System versions, Dizzy seems to be more expressive like when it is raining, all of his sprites feel depressed instead of just his idle pose like the Genesis version. Presumably the scared pose and diving pose are there as well. I guess that solves that mystery. Anyway, added: Fantastic Dizzy (Genesis) Misc All the items including the hidden Prince key are here.

Yup, it had been a LONG time indeed. (My memory, dammit)
By the way, the pygmy cow was the most delirious item ever.

E-SWAT (Master System) Playable Character There doesn't seem to be any good ports of the original E-SWAT at all (the Genesis version doesn't count since its different in everything but the name and concept) and this version is a bit bad. Strangely enough there are two versions of this game, both got released. The first version has an Arrest screen, more bullets and your health gets refilled at every section but the enemies appear faster. The second version doesn't have an Arrest screen, less bullets, your health doesn't refill but there is a bit more enemy balance and it fixed a few bugs in the game. Nice one Yawa! I always thought E-Swat for the Megadrive was virtually impossible...
Rampage is always good, too! |
