...Why am I seeing Mario in that background?

Anyway, it looks pretty cool, except Snake's head appears to be on the verge of shooting forward and abusing that poor woman(?).

Why can no one tell it's Meryl? It's pretty obvious.
I do agree though, Snake appears to have a face but doesn't while "the girl" has none what so ever.
