Did that with the _ST archives, just deletes them. Trust me, I know my way around this crap which is why this pisses me off. All I do is drag the file to xbdc, type yes or all, and it deletes the file. giving no output whatsoever. And like I said before about XCompress and QuickBMS, it simply outputs an error saying LZXTDECODE isn't supported yet...so...I don't know what the issue is.

Finally got them to rip myself. The files with MO in them are just duplicate files. Not sure why, but they match the standard files byte for byte. The animation files are in the _ST packages after the texture data.

I know this is a little off from what you are talking about but, when i extract the Sonic 06 models from the .XNO i got one import.ms and one output.bin (the .bin is the model right?). What do i do with the import.ms?
EDIT: Found it! To anyone who doesn't know go to MAXScript and Run Script in 3DSMax 2010 2011 2012 etc...

Well to be honest. I don't think the script will get released seeing how people are reacting to it. (Not to be a jackoff or anything.) Most people who know of model ripping or crap like that don't know anything about how to even get that done in the first place. And I can see why the keep it secluded like so.
If you want something done "learn" and "do it" "yourself". But most ask for others to do it for them and they wait like a idiot having hope of getting something for "free". And that really irritates me. Like with me for programming for Sonic FreeRunner I'm putting in my free work for that leaders amusement. When he doesn't know a thing about how its done. And thinks I can easily throw this stuff out there. But anyways same thing can be applied to here. Sorry for the rant but I can't stand seeing people acting like this for a model. Edit: I would love for it to be out there to people's usage but I do not see that happening. I really hate talking about this type of stuff. Wait till Generations comes out. Sonic Retro will be trying to hack into this "PC" version for sure.

Most people know about how scripts and converters work and if they have a shred of intelligence they understand the work put into them. However the script authors themselves REALLY should be aware of what they're getting into by releasing something. Though I honestly don't see why they would be so upset by people making use of their scripts/converters/whatever to share with others in the first place, the authors have every right to you know, NOT release it. If they do release them and someone does something silly with their creation that the author finds distasteful, than they reap what they sowed by releasing it. Though in all honestly, withholding something simply because you believe a person might do silly things in GMod with it, that they might recolor/edit it, and/or maybe claim, quite obviously wrongly, that the ripped content and/or script was theirs seems like an incredibly poor and selfish reason.
And though this isn't completely related, if you're bothered by the project leader doing nothing and dumping his workload on you, you really ought to either get him to understand your side or leave his sorry ass completely if he carries on. Noone's forcing you to work for him and if he's bothering you than why stay there when you could simply start your own project? If he's really doing nothing than you have nothing at all to lose. Its worth noting that organization and leadership jobs done effectively can be just as valuable as jobs on the artistic and programming side though.

Honestly I know what you mean about this whole thing. I know the work and crap that goes into it. And yet if they post a pic online of something they did they are immediately hated or looked down upon for showing it anyways (flaunting it) . In my opinion they earned the right cause they did it. Or people hate it because selected people have something while others don't and thats wrong? Well it may seem unfair but not wrong. Really I just don't get why we even get all buggy bummed for model rips anyways. Especially model hoarding only comes with Sonic only. I don't understand it much myself. And most time I really don't care. I'd love for everyone to get their hands on the resources since it would be nice.
Anything else it seems perfectly fine. The creators have their reasons and they'll do as they see fit. I on the other hand have different views from them and how they handle things. And to the FreeRunner thing. I'm already working on my own project on the side. I'm only working for them because they literally have no one else that'll even model or program for them. And if I leave them their project is pretty much screwed. And I'm not that bad of a guy to do something like that. |
