Larry's eyes have improved significantly, too. Could be me but now the left-bottom corner is kind of square-ish, maybe you could make that part of the muzzle a tiny bit thicker to shape it? Also on Larry, I do like the new leg shape, but you made them thinner.
All of these are easy fixes. Should have them finished by tonight if my computer would stop crashing just before I save.

Quote:A few more minor things: Morton has random red pixels on his belly, his hair could be longer; Ludwig's arms might need to be a bit thicker; for some reason, you left spikes off some of their wristbands; Larry had a weird color on his racket's top spike.
The red pixels were used to soften the outline before I had picked his final skin color. I can change them now that you've reminded me.

As for that weird color, it was from the original version of the sprites that I made... in 2009 I think, I'll post them later when I have all of the sprites finished. The color slipped into a few modern sprites (I originally had used the older colors, after which I changed them to the ones you see now.)

Quote:By the way, on Larry's head, is that supposed to be the star or pillow shading?
It's the star. I'll probably remove it if it's an issue, it's jsut hard to make such a small detail look right.

Mkay, I'm done for today, I'll work on it some more tomorrow probably.

Anyways, hopefully this knocked out the remaining errors.

Started on a larger Lemmy.

Pretty good! Big Grin The Larry one is my favorite. XD

Beautiful, you fixed everything on the others, and new Lemmy's great. I love the shading on the ball, by the way. I can't wait to see Iggy and Junior now!

If I may, though, you should move Lemmy's eyes closer, probably so there's only one green pixel in between. There's really meant to be almost no space between the eyes.
EDIT: Whoops, one more nitpick: I don't know if this is intentional, but it looks a bit weird having the back armbands be spike-less. Lemmy's also missing his completely (he's got them now).

Meant to reply to this yesterday but the hurricane knocked out my power.

Anyways, I'll move the eyes closer together asap. as for the missing spikes, that was intentional. Lemmy is missing them in general because when I added them, they blend in a bit with his yellow skin and it looks off. I can't make his band thicker though because then it takes up too much of his arm. As for the other koopalings, it's more of a matter of me not wanting to add another color. I used some of the existing colors in their palettes but none of them worked (Morton being the one exception).

Still though, I will mess around with it and see if I can find something that looks good.

Next I'll probably remake Jr.

That will do nicely, I think. I officially have no more complaints to slow you down, heh.
Carry on.

Oh right, I was doing a thing here. Seriously though, my laptop died a couple of months ago and it took all of my sprites with it, including all of the work I had done with the Koopalings (Idk about you guys, but I leave my sprites in pieces so I can make animations easily, and I lost all of it). Either way, have some Bowser Jr. Not perfect, but it's certainly better than the original.

At some point I'd like to make the machine you fight Jr. in. It's like a drill vehicle thing or something and at one point, as a final attack, it turns into a more offensive form.

Aw yeah.
You nailed Jr. this time. Great job!

Sorry to hear about your laptop and sprite work... Keeping an updated backup drive is definitely a benefit.

I'm super tired right now (4am) so I'll probably wake up tomorrow and wonder why I thought this looked good, or not, idk, but either way, here is the newer Iggy.

So yeah, I hope this is a step in the right direction, but I won't know/work on it anymore until I've had some sleep.

EDIT- I will say this, if for nothing more as a note to myself, I should touch up his mouth area. It looks a bit flat, mainly in the front nose area.

Big jump from the original, that's for sure! Very awesome. It does look good - occasionally the best work is done when there's nothing else to do but sleep.
Fix the face if you want, but it looks just fine to me. What I'm concerned about is mostly the hair. It seems to have too many locks and is turned the wrong direction or something... It's a bit confusing, just see if you can rework it somehow with a good reference.
The thinness of the arms still bothers me, but if you insist on keeping it, then okay. Though, I will say that if it's supposed to be a property of your sprite style, that doesn't make sense; none of the other Kopalings' sprites have altered arm proportions here.
If possible see if you can make the eye swirls lighter. Purple works but it's a bit dark. If you can't it's fine, just thought I'd comment on it anyway.

Also, just curious, do you plan on sheeting any of these? If so for what?
Thanked by:
#27
Well, for the arms, I was going for a lanky look so I figured the thin look would fit better, but I can make them a bit thicker.

As for sheets and what I'm using them for, they are for the game I've been spriting for "Mushroom Patrol: Midas Machine". As of right now they may not be used but I have 2 plans for them. The first is to have a castle level that works like the final level in SMW in which you have 2 sets of 4 doors to pick. Each door will have 1 of the 7 koopalings (plus Jr in one of them) and as you go through, they will give you trouble in some way (usually by dropping objects from above that interact with you in different ways). I also want to have them show up as bosses in and after game bonus world.

As for if I'm sheeting it, well, I guess I've already answered that, although most of them won't fight in the traditional means (shooting from wand, jumping, ect.). Some will fight from in personalized Koopa Clown Cars and what not. This is for 2 reasons. First is because I don't feel like fully animating all of them, especially since I lost most of the pieces. Second is because I want to use various game gimmicks as part of the fight, so the traditional fight styles wouldn't work. So yeah, they'll have a sheet, but not a traditional one.

EDIT-
[Image: 2h5kz2d.jpg]

K, I made the hair only have 3 locks and have them placed as seen in the official art (not sure if it looks any better. For whatever reason, his hair is tricky as hell), made the eye rings lighter, and I made the arms slightly thicker. I don't want to make them much thicker than they are as of right now though as I think it will make him look more muscle based.
Thanked by:

Ahh, thought they might have been for Midas Machine, wasn't sure though. Good to know you'll be using them somewhere.
However you sheet them, I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Okay, you managed to knock out everything with the fixes, so I've got nothing on Iggy now. It's perfect.

I've seen the sprites in Midas Machine, your style is really superb.

Also I like your idea for the Koopalings doing like they did in the final level of SMW too. Although when you said some of them won't fight traditionally, which ones would those be? I think it's safe to say Larry would use his M&LUnsureS racket (in the sprite)
Thanked by:
#30
Well, the racket was just to make him look different. I'm not a fan of generic poses. Plus, I started him around the time Ridge was working on his Larry sheet and i thought it was a nice idea.

As for how they will work... lemme give an example. One room will have floors made up of a special block known as "Bob-blocks". They are bob-omb like blocks that explode when hit with another explosion. They explosion is small and won't hurt you, but it will set off any bob-blocks that it's touching. Now, the koopaling in this room will be dropping Drop-ombs, a missile like Bob-omb, that can not only hurt the player, but also result in the destruction of the Bob-blocks.

Another room, most likely Wendy's, will revolve around swimming while she launches the bouncing candy rings at you.
