Mind explaining the light a bit more? Probably a bit late but I'll say it anyway.
Better, but it seems to have a few too many colors. It can definitely be reduced to 3-5 (on the character), and there are more as it is now.
Also, it blends into the background a little too well. Have you heard of hue-shifting? It would actually be pretty neat to add some red shadows or highlights to pull it out more (or hue-shift a little on the bg, it's your call).
It's just with all of the greys, it's kind of hard to clearly see everything as best as it should be seen.
Quote:"Hue-shifting refers to having a transition of hues in a color ramp. A color ramp without hue-shifting is known as a straight ramp. In straight ramps, only the luminescence changes, while in hue-shifted ramps both hue and luminescence will (usually) change.
The first color ramp is a straight green ramp. The second image is a green ramp with hue-shifting applied. When using hue shifting, bend your highlights toward a certain color (yellow, in the example above), and move the darker colors toward a second color (I chose blue in the above example). Hue-shifting is used because straight ramps are usually boring and don't reflect the variety of hues we see in reality, and hue shifting can add subtle color contrast within a ramp."

This forum post here is actually really helpful; it wouldn't hurt to look around it a little

Reduced bag to 2 colors, inside of bag to 1 color, eyes to 3 colors, fixed some messy lines, and moved the right eye (viewer's perspective) one space over. Also increased the contrast. I don't know what you meant by hue shifting, would you mind explaining it to me?
Small update:
And...I think I'm done .
Any critiques?

I know I said less colors, but 2 probably isn't enough to convey depth properly. The lines are still pretty jaggy and it's overall pretty flat. Let me show you what I mean. I'll try to whip something up in a second.
Very rough and the colors aren't the greatest, but I wanted to give him an Idea of how you can use hue-shifting in this, while still keeping a dull pallette.

I think that there has been a decent amount of improvement, what exactly are you still dissatisfied with? If it is the font, I really do find it perfectly readable, and definitely better than the default Paint font. If something else, then please do tell me.
EDIT: And this would be about as far as I got before break ended.
the thing is,
stop thinking about REAL cards.
are you dealing with real cards? No.
is this becoming a game? I doubt it, really.
the best way to make virtual cards is to stop thinking in papers and start thinking in pixels.
here's my take on tSR cards.
see? it's more dynamic.
it's more interesting to the eye.
you don't need those explanations or a lot of symbols.
just the image is fine.
stop being so enclosed inside the card borders.

I'm sorry, Gors, that post came out as rude and self-centered. I wanted this to become a community project, and then I went and turned a blind eye to the reoccuring theme of the critiques, which would be my insistance on keeping everything onto the card itself. I cannot do much more on this site than hang around during breaks, but this summer, I will revive this thread, and I will reformat the cards as the majority of this site desires (less stats, more open graphics, etc. { I am probably going to keep the writing), and be more accepting of your advice. Until then, can you please do a pre-empitve lock so that it doesn't get spammed in by adbots or anything while it is idle?
sure, I am looking forward to this project's restart c:
Gors, that card is killer. I should really get off my lazy butt and make one when this is re-opened. c:

you'd first need a community interested into it. and in 8 pages worth of thread you did not get it.
you're far from being able to move (this) community into such thing.
