So do people really find it hard, or is it the difficulty change that's unaccpetable?

No, it really is hard. Maybe you found a way to overcome it, but I've not yet done so...

Read back a few pages, came across discussion of Little King's Story. It's called a Pikmin ripoff, and is pegged as only being a Pikmin ripoff with no other redeemable factors. I raged.
Little King's Story is much more than a Pikmin rip-off as it's being claimed to be. It's a very clever, fun, original game. Yes, the 'throwing' mechanics of sending little peons to fight enemies is pretty much Pikmin, but I'm sure it's not the only game that has a commander sending out a soldier to fight targets you assign to it. The game allows you to outfit each soldier (or woodsman, or cook, or villager, or etc.) with different weapons, each with helpful additional boosts like speed or more power and such. Villagers have different classes that they can become, and each one has a role that they do best and certain obstacles can only be surmounted if you have the right class with you. When they die in combat, they have a chance to be brought back by being found washed-up on a beach a day or so later. And even then, a new character will move into your kingdom (which you can also customize!) to replace them if they do die. It has multiple side quests involving UFOs, crazy cows, etc. The characters are great and humorous, the art style is appealing, the gameplay can get very frantic and deep. The music is modernized classical and famous orchestra pieces that are great to listen to. The wonky VA can be compared to even the Zelda series, which is pretty much a series of grunts, yells, and noises for all NPCs and main characters (Midna or Fi, anyone?) Little King's Story's VA has more personality in its tone than arguably the Zelda series I would say. Anyway, I realize I'm bringing up a game from pages past, but it's a great game and I felt like it was not represented well here. In any case, I'm pretty damn biased about this game I'll admit. I suggest however, that when looking at a game, you look more into it instead of just labeling it as one thing and never seeing the rest it has to offer. /rant over

I wasn't trying to pass it off as "a Pikmin rip-off with no redeemable qualities whatsoever", that wasn't my intention. Sorry if it offended you. I was only trying to point out about the throwing mechanic being similar, but that's all, and I do agree that that was probably the only similar thing and what I saw of it was a pretty neat. It's just that it's been ages since I've seen it in action last so my memory wasn't serving me very well at the time of posting that either. I've actually wanted to play it myself as my cousin only rented it and never beat it. >_>

Apologies, I didn't notice that you posted before me so I understand how you took it that I was accusing you. I did take note that you were part of the discussion pages ago, but my criticism certainly wasn't leveled at you, Mighty Jetters, in particular. 'You' is referring to the reader of the post, and it is more of a defense of the game and explaining what makes it great rather than outright anger.
Sorry for the misunderstanding! :] Thanked by: Garamonde

Yeah, I still don't think LKS deserves THAT much praise, but I'm gonna give it another shot before I decide to write it off completely.
EDIT: Yeah I still don't think it's anything special...

Black & Bruised (GameCube).
Badly designed characters that are far too easy to beat using limited attacks Pinball Power (PSX) King Arthur meets Pinball. = Lousy game Robots (GBA) damn useless controls then some that are bad but i don't hate them

Glad to see someone took my suggestion.
From now on, feel free to post both games you hate AND love. |
