The wonderful world of Chaofanatic
Just use the texture dump thing on Dolphin. Then in the dumped textures folder, find the texture that you want. Say... This one.

Now, look for a black and white silhouette of the same texture.

Open the colored texture in Gimp and go to the layer tab. Select "mask" and then "add layer mask". Then open the silhouette and copy it, paste it onto the the colored image and you should end up with this.

Now go to the layers window and right click on the "floating selection (pasted layer)" layer and select "anchor layer". Then right click on the remaining layer and click "apply layer mask". Then save it as a png, organize it in some program and you're done.

Oh, and most importantly, make sure to make the icon deranged and funny. That's the most important part.

I thought they did too, but oddly enough I get varying sizes for textures that clearly have a different size in-game. Hm...what are your graphics settings when running it? They seem to work perfectly for you but for me the thing is pretty screwed up. (And I am aware of the games scaling and rotating and distorting and such...) Thanks for helping.

Like, what textures are different sizes? Certain things are simply drawn at different sizes and the game scales them.

Well, the textures you extracted are not matching mine, which come out much smaller, for example. I'm currently running through 'The Reveal' trying to get the textures of...uh...the bad guy...don't want to spoil it, and the output is ridiculously inaccurate. All renders well in-game, but the dumps don't match.

All right. What I'm trying to get is the Dark Teensie (AKA The Magician). So far I've noticed three different texture files for him, one for his hat, one for him sideways, and one for him facing forward. However none of these dump properly.

Well...if you think so...you're the one who knows what they're doing after all (as opposed to my clueless self). Thank you for your help! I'm going to do some attempts at different levels to see if there's any other results.
