Hardly a custom... Infact, hardly an edit even. Keep trying though, try working on things from scratch.

To be honest, if you want to improve, stay here. If you keep at it you'll develop skills that you wouldn't get on another website. Either way, it's your choice.. Thanked by: Garamonde

you're hardly ever going to improve if you cant take criticisms, process it and then use it to the development of those skills you want to achieve.
if you fo from a trace to a piece of shit sprite edit right after you recieved a recomendation to work on a small sprite so you could practice the basics, then you simply cant progress. you only want shortcuts and cheat codes to improve instantly. that attitude will never allow you to improve and would only doom you to purely post shit for the sake of fishing for compliments. if you really want to take it that way, then go ahead and leave. call yourself a novice and use that as an excuse to justify anything you do. as if no one else had ever been a novice on these boards. Umm... no-one said those things without also saying something constructive. The fact is that you AREN'T going to learn by making small edits to things. If doing custom sprites is beyond your ability now, how do you magically expect it to become within your ability without tackling it? The best way to learn is to ATTEMPT what you can't yet do well, then post it here, allow us to comment on it, and then improve it with the aid of those comments. You're not going to improve by adding a few white pixels to someone else's sprite, just like you aren't going to be able to become a great painter by dropping a blob of paint onto the Mona Lisa.

True, true
Thanks Hoeloe. I will work on it. Still, could someone delete or lock this thread as it is now useless, thanks.

Nade, Meta is more harsh with his criticisms than the rest of us, but you can't take it personally. You need to understand that anything these guys say that may seem a little mean is just their way of helping you. Meta's posts were very well constructive and you need to overlook the harshness as all of his points were valid. If you leave TSR, then you will not be able to improve as quickly as an artist. We are trying to help you grow, and to see your own potential. Please think it over more before you skip out on what will likely be your best opportunity at improving.
By the way, you may have reported Meta, but he is not doing wrong in this situation and he certainly is not flaming you. Take it from me, I know this community very well and they do not say mean things just for the sake of being mean. You have to observe their posts carefully and try to pull out any bit of advice you can from their posts whether they are harsh or not. An important thing in life is to not take everything as it first appears to you.

Thanks Mighty Jetters.
I am going back to the drawing board and will take on board all you said. I am not leaving TSR, I think I need to start again and go about things differently. I think, like you said, that you need to know how to take Meta. I found his posts rude and snotty - you may be used to it, I am not as I don't know him at all, so maybe I over-reacted a bit. sorry. It's common with new members, so it's not like this hasn't happened before. We just hate to see possible potential go to waste. That's why we always try so hard to convince them. But once you get to know us you will find that we are better than many other forums out there and that the criticism provided here is generally top-notch.
