Actually I think the problem is the poor quality of disc that Lionhead used, if you're doin just fine on your own disc

BUT i went to gamestop today and traded in fable 2 and got far cry 2 for free, which i feel was a way better investment

except where you fight the commandant and you can't pick up any exp, but i don't know if that was a glitch or not.

Steambot Chronicles; although I think the game hates me. To copy/paste what I've posted elsewhere:

"I managed to find Steambot Chronicles second hand, and just started playing it (although as of late I don't have a whole lot of time for console gaming, but you've got to snatch budget opportunities when you find them). I got to the first boss, a giant elephant mech, and an NPC tells me that I can jump on it. I couldn't find a safe place to jump on, and I had a Cannon equipped, so I just nuked it from a distance.

I kill it, and there's a cutscene with the mech exploding, then suddenly the screen goes sepia-toned, some sad music plays and 'Game Over' appears. Then I'm dumped back at the titlescreen. I got a game over for WINNING the battle.

The (single, poorly written) FAQ on GFAQs doesn't mention a failure condition to the battle, and I don't think I took any damage during the fight itself.

I'm apprehensive to play again, in case the game kicks my ass for trying to open the main menu or something."

Yes, because that Game Over screen was completely related to me doing well at the game, and made perfect sense in context.

I later tried again and decided to board the craft, then killed it; and it spared me the game over. What the fuck though; if the game doesn't want me to ignore its advice, then it shouldn't give me the goddamn option to ignore it. =/
