the N64 is purely nostalgia, unfortunately. from an objetive point of view, it had such a limited library and power that even the saturn puts it to shame.

Mario 64, OoT, Smash Bros, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Pokémon Snap... The rest aren't exclusive, and have been released in a better way on another console of the same generation. Sure, it was a new way of controlling a game, that was cool... But that's because it had the capability for 3D. It just put a joystick on the controller, that isn't rocket science. I can name probably 40+ games on the SNES which I will happily play again and again. I just don't like a lot of the games on the console, probably because of what I enjoy in a game... It just didn't do anything interesting to my taste. It also looked hideous.

The nintendo 3DS is my favorite. I love the HD graphics of the games on it, and most of all its 3D capabilities.

Classic example: Conker's Bad Fur Day. N64 did have problems, yes, but it was a powerhouse in the hands of the right developers. I'd pick the SNES as my fave console because it gave me great childhood memories, and I believe I don't need to elaborate. Also I'm enjoying my newly-bought 3DS too so far, I hope it turns into one of my favorites, too. Thanked by: Gwen, recme, HandToeKnee

I think the main problem with the N64 is kind of the problem that the Wii has today, with the major draws being almost exclusively 1st party games. Sure, there's exceptions, such as most of the Rare titles on the N64 and titles on the Wii like No More Heroes, but the PRIMARY draw is from the 1st party games. I have a hard time thinking specifically of what games I liked on the N64 that WEREN'T 1st party Nintendo games or classic Rare games. I'm pretty sure I'll think of them right after I post.
I just feel like other Nintendo systems had a much more diverse library of games that I absolutely wanted to play over and over and over. N64, despite how revolutionizing it was for Nintendo, falls somewhat short in the diversity of its game library. Not to say that it's a bad system objectively, but out of Nintendo's other systems it could have done better.

The main problem imo is the fact that N64 sticked with carts instead of disks, which kind of repelled a lot of devs which went to program for the PSX (that's what I read somewhere, idk if truth or not, but it's plausible). But as for power, it was much more capable than PSX, that's for sure.

SNES, N64, Gameboy and GBA are my favorites. Also Gamecube and now the Wii =)
Can't wait for the WiiU, finally Nintendo games in HD and not with slightly better GC graphics =D

A lot of people seem to like the N64 though because it's tied with SNES.

it was a nice system, some of its games set quite a few standards on their respective genres. and... thats all.
the PSX proved that increased processing power didn't necesary meant increased quality. Thanked by: Dazz

Anyway, that generation still had a whole crap ton of quality adventure games starring cartoony characters! Yay! Something that I'm starting to see less and less of. Boo!

I really enjoyed the N64 because of Mario Party 64 and Super Mario 64.
