I love the newer gens as much as the older ones, I'm generally against the nostalgia tainted glasses that people seem to wear when they talk about Pokémon, but...this works as a reference to what MRSKELETON said.

I'll try to stay on GEN 5 so, ok, here's this guy, Krookodile:

People may or not like him, but when you look at this design, you see some actual work and thinking behind it. It's simple, he looks cool and gets the point across.

Now, there's this...Klink...thing and it's entire evolution line

People may like it (for whatever reason), but there's no denying that this is one of the most lazy designs in the series history ever. There have been simpler designs that get the job well done like Voltorb or Magneton (who is 3 Magnemites glued togheter and has way more personality than Klink), so this is, indeed, a very bad Pokémon design, it isn't a matter of taste anymore, there's nothing worth of notice on it, it's bland, boring and lazy.

That can apply to games as well, God of War probably falls on that category (I can't be certain here because even though I played it a little, I know almost nothing about the history). He doesn't have a "bad taste" for games for liking it (unless he advertises it as the best game on the world), but there are some things that are undeniable.

Eh I don't know, this whole topic of what good and what's bad is very subjective.

But I know if I say that, someone is going to get angry...

But the klink line isn't lazy at all
Its' an original line, and doesn't appeal to the typical players of the game.
Instead of making a pokemon that everyone would love or would be particularly viable in competitive play, they stuck with an original concept and maintained artistic integrity. That's a risk I can respect, and I appreciate the designs of the klink line for that reason.

But there are lazy pokemon
primary example, this guy
[Image: 448Lucario.png]
They gave an him an unfitting original type and moveset oriented to make him competitively viable, a design and "personality" completely designed to appeal to the many 12 year olds that only want "badass" pokemon, and then made him a poster boy for dp, and included him in everything. They made this guy, and a select few other pokemon for the sake of appeasing fans, with out ever having a truly solid idea. That seems way more lazy then guys like klinklang and magneton, who conceptually have some value.

Oh boy what did I start... again?

Look let's just get back to E3.

Anything remotely interesting that they might reveal at E3 won't be released for 1-3 years.

Not always true. Sometimes they shock you and say... It's coming out the end of this year! But that happens very rarely.

There's usually a few games announced at E3 that end up coming out at the end of the year. Not that rare to me.

Voltorb and Magneton are one of my favorites Pokémon, I like them, I don't think they're lazy <: But when the player can clearly notice that each new sprite on the evolution line is a copy-paste of the one before (animations too) with unecessary things around it, then yes, there's something very wrong with it and it's very lazy. I like how they copy-pasted on the conceptual art too, it's like they didn't really want to do that, but they needed 3 new Pokemon fast.

About Lucario, I like his design because it is good, I don't like the things it represent though, I have to agree with all your points. Also he being steel-type doesn't make sense.

(Ok sorry, didn't want to turn this into Pokemon discussion thread, back to E3)

Surprise (not really), Star Fox X Metroid is a hoax: http://paulgalenetwork.com/home/2012/05/...for-wii-u/

It was very very unlikely in the first place, yeah, but the interesting thing is, it was apparently suggested and considered? Which is kinda cool.

Now let's see what Retro has in the vault for us, this is probably the only remotely exciting thing on E3 this year. As much as I don't hate the WiiU, idk...I really really hope they surprise me.

Idk about everyone else but I'm a bit worried about the Wii U, and this is coming from a guy who has been hyping it since it was announced.

I'm just afraid that they're gonna be making the same mistakes again. They already have the same name problem going on that the 3DS and DS had. Wii U and Wii? It's inevitable that it will cause confusion. I was dissapointed that it is still being called Wii U.

Nintendo says they're learning from their mistakes but..idk. I may be just letting rumors get to me : / I'm just trying not to overhype.

I don't see why everyone thinks the name is a problem. People aren't that stupid. People even got the iPad / new iPad thing (and all the same-lookinh iPhones and...) - it's all about how you market the thing. The problem with the 3DS wasn't that people thought it was just another DS - it was that there are only a few really interesting titles and they messed up marketing (as a matter of fact, many video game stores here didn't have any 3DS and games in stock until weeks after launch).

Well, since E3, people have been wondering if WiiU was just the controler or a new console (including myself), since the console wasn't actually shown on the presentation, just later, so yeah, I think it is a big issue in this case
Thanked by:
Still, that's not a problem with the name, but with the marketing. If they had introduced it more clearly as a new console, there would have been much less confusion, regardless of the name.
They could have called it Revolution and people would just as well have wondered if it was just a Wii add-on after that presentation.
Thanked by:
Or atleast the "Nintendo U"

Something to make it sound different.

Thanked by:
Koopaul, previous' point was that the name wasn't the reason for the confusion. Changing its name into 'Nintendo U' will not change anything if they didn't showcase the product like it was supposed to be.

I also think that the name could be better but I don't think we should be blaming the console's name alone for the confusion.
