3ds XL with no second joypad or whatever it's called?

I can't imagine a game where the touch-screen couldn't be used instead of it and if it couldn't the stupid add-on could just be used. First adopters always get shafted anyway.

When Sony released the PSP-Go (or maybe it was even the 3000) they gave similar reasons for no second tumb-nub. But if the X, O, Triangle and Square button could just be mapped to it in older games (and the stick mapped to said face buttons in later games for people with previous versions of the PSP) it would have made the system infinitely more awesome.

Yes it's unfair and anyone who just brought one would be like "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck" but in the long-term I'd still be for it, even though it'll probably never happen and I can understand (and agree) with Nintendo for never doing.

I really don't see a problem with the lack of a second analog at all. I've been playing my 3DS fine without it. Not to say it would be worse if they added a second analog stick on this one, because of the reasons Sploder pointed out.

I like this new 3DS and all, but I'll stick to mine, not only because of price; just because a new version came out it doesn't mean mine is obsolete. I'm pretty fine with what I have and I can live happily with this.

Looks twice as big to me. If you're not convinced I wrote up an explanation in the spoilers.

Double size in two dimensions is not as dramatic an increase as in one dimension. If you have a two-by-two square, the double size is not four-by-four. It's the root of 8 by the root of 8. (Not looking the root of 8 up. Go away. It's about three though.)

A better example is the 3DS screen itself though - which is 400x240. You get 96,000 pixels in that. Very nice. Lots of them. You multiply that by 1.9 (because 96,000 is the screen's actual area) and get 182,400. About double.

If you applied the 1.9 to 400x240, you'd get 760x456, which is... 346,560. About three and a half times as big a number.

So it doesn't look that much bigger because two-dimensional numbers are weird.

But even though the screen's almost twice as big, it's still the same resolution... hmmmmmm. Nintendo why you do this to us

Maybe they might give us higher resolution games? That would be nice. Or maybe capabilities for watching videos on it like the PSP.

Nono, the resolution is still the same. Larger screen but the same amount of pixels. So you have fewer pixels per inch.

So basically Nintendo are dicks and instead of measuring a screen from the top left corner to the bottom weight, as you know - how screens are sized, they do this bollocks to make it sound impressive.

Also the DS XL had a bigger screen but the same resolution didn't it? So I wasn't expecting a high res anyway.

If the lack of AC adapter is that much trouble, why not get a regular 3DS? There are plenty of colors to choose from now (as opposed to launch).
Me, I have a 3DS. My brother might get a 3DS XL, so we can share our AC adapter.
I'm content with my 3DS and do not see the need for a bigger screen.
