Note: Even though I am a new member and this is my first post, I was given permission to post this in here by Dazz.
We are looking for four sprite artists at the moment. An Environment Artist, Character Sprite Artist, Background Artist, and Sprite Effect Artist.
Descriptions of all four are below. You may apply for more than one.
Environment Artist
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign (http://www.kickstart...g-with-1-4-play), Experimental Gamer is seeking the help of an Environment Artist to speed up the development and improve the art quality of their first game, “Boot Hill Heroes.” http://www.experimen...ot-hill-heroes/
Game Summary: Boot Hill Heroes is a true retro RPG set in the American Wild West. You’ll find all the trappings of a spaghetti western – gunslingers, saloons, Indians, ranches, spittoons, Mexican standoffs, heroism, villainy, and everything in between. Boot Hill Heroes has adventure, drama, and a fair helping of humor. It’s just like the classic RPGs you remember from yesteryear but with an inventive new spin!
Requirements
• Reliable, responsible, able to meet deadlines
• Able to follow directions well
• Strong sense of organization
• Photoshop software
• Knowledgeable regarding layers and groups in Photoshop (no other Photoshop skills necessary)
• PC with sufficient RAM and scratch memory (larger files become very intensive)
Preferences
• Pen tablet
• Understanding of tilesets
Needed
The Environment Artist will create overworld game environments such as the town below. They will be given a sketch and description of the environment and asked to recreate it in an art style that seamlessly fits with the game’s existing content.
The environments are composed of 8 by 8 pixels tiles. The Environment Artist will be asked to start by creating these tiles that make up parts of buildings (and other objects). Then these parts are grouped together to make a building. Finally, the buildings are grouped together to make a town, such as the one below. This process allows us to swap parts in an out and change colors to make a variety of different buildings from a number of existing parts. An example of this will be given.
Town Example:
