Super Smash Bros. Wii U (Title Pending) speculation thread

Doesn't seem likely when you're thinking about 40 characters.

Costumes aren't that big of a deal. Making a moveset for and balancing a mass of characters is the real problem. A costume is just a different or edited model over an existing character.
When you think about it, Pikachu and Jigglypuff each have multiple 'costumes' (hats in this case. Jiggs' green outfit in Melee even has physics.
And time isn't an excuse when you're working with a massive dev team like they are doing now.
So is it likely? Maybe, maybe not, but it's totally unrelated to the number of characters.

By the way, what about a Super Leaf that gives the character a raccoon tail. It could give them a spin attack (similar to swinging melee weapons) and slow descend similar to the Parasol item. It could happen, since the item has been greatly promoted lately. (I realize now that when there is a topic about a new Smash Bros., speculation often involves stages and especially characters, but hardly items)

The only problem I can think of with that is: what about the characters who already have on their back? Would the Raccoon Tail override Fox's tail? Would Marth's cape go through the tail or would it contort to fit around it?

That came to mind and for Fox it could temporarily replace his tail.
It could also be a tail floating behind the player, kinda like how the tail spins around the kart in Mario Kart 7 (though here characters would also spin when attacking. I'm referring to the fact it's detached.)

It'd be more comedic if it actually gave them a tail.
Imagine serious characters like Ganondorf and Snake with a tail, HA.

Now that I think about it, it is pretty likely that Olimar'll be replaced. Still pikmin representation, though, so that's good b

Despite how unlikely it would be, I want to see:
-Masked Man (Mother 3)
-Billy Hatcher (I can dream ;~; )
-Waluigi. I think it'd be really neat; he'd be based off of the party games (using a tennis racket, riding a kart like Wario's >b,^B hitting a dice block, etc.)
-A duck hunt assist trophy
-Balloon fighter (No Idea how he would work, but it'd be a neat classic addition)

I really want Waluigi and Masked man, though. I don't think it would be too unreasonable. Masked man wouldn't be a clone of Ness/Lucas because of his saber, bat wings, and gun arm, and Waluigi would represent the Mario Kart, Party, Golf, Tennis, Strikers/etc. games.

Likely choices that may be made by the game's creators:

-New Fire Emblem character from the 3DS game with lots of downloadable content, possibly replacing Ike
-Pikmin 3 protagonist, possibly replacing Olimar
-Former assist trophy made playable, probably Waluigi, Knuckle Joe or Saki
-Resurrecting a forgotten or unfamiliar franchise, like Melee did with Fire Emblem and Brawl did with Kid Icarus
-An additional Kid Icarus character
-Ghirahim

Choices I really WISH they would make (Within reason):

-Return of Mewtwo as a stronger character
-Masked Man (I even have a moveset for him)
-Marx (Kirby Superstar)
-Fawful (Mario and Luigi RPG Series)
-Geno (Super Mario RPG)
-Return of Roy, but with the design from the newer 3DS Fire Emblem where he has two swords

Honestly I still can't believe Mewtwo got cut. I could see everyone else (iffy on Roy at the time) but losing Mewtwo was just crazy.

considering Brawl was still catching up with games from the GameCube and Game Boy Advance era (Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald...) during its development, i wouldn't be surprised if the 2009 Punch-Out!! would still be relevant enough to net Little Mac a spot on the roster here.

I'd love to see Megaman. Was really hoping he'd be in Brawl but I don't think his chances are good at all this time.

Remember, Sakurai said he wanted to revive more classic franchises with this one. We may see more than one old school character get a make over.
