because the graphics remind me of it.

I love it when games use a style which has became so well know with another franchise it's dismissed as a rip-off before I know anything about it. It's a great marketing move.

i'll kill you both

first part: this art style actually suits jojo's bizarre adventure one of the greatest fighting manga and also one of the best capcom fighting games in the 90's quite well, even moreso than street fighter 4
second part: there's a wonderful, colorful cast of characters to choose from. capcom's 90's JJBA game accomplished with about ten characters what most fighting games are designed in this modern era to have 40 to accomplish

If I knew that I probably wouldn't have said it.

Still, I kind of wished that they at least put in some effort to make the art look slightly different. Not entirely, but still enough to give it it's own touch.

Except it barely looks the same. I can see where you're coming from, but really.

Also, I would like to point out that Jojo is an inspiration for 2 Street Fighter characters.

Guile which is pretty much Stroheim, but American and not Nazi

and Rose, which is pretty much confirmed to be inspired by Lisa Lisa

I would also like to point out that this guy, J.P. Polnareff, is pretty much the inspiration for Benimaru from KOF and Paul from Tekken

Jojo is everywhere, so it's kinda hard to call it a rip-off, even if I get your point, it's...not right

Jojo also inspired Persona, Touhou, Shaman King, Yuyu Hakusho, Yu Gi Oh, and is referenced by a huge chunk of Japanese media.

Don't forget that Jolyne Kujo was the inspiration for Juri Han:

that's the best feature in the game, regardless of what they show next. I'm sold already.

It's not an OVA it's a FULL ANIMATED SERIES apparently.

Yeah I wasn't sure, because Araki didn't want to his series to ever be animated (actually, I think he didn't want it to become a regular anime, since there's the OVA and the Movie). But since now there's 7 freaking parts and a lot of material, he must have given the green light for an anime. I seriously hope it does the series justice

(07-06-2012, 12:52 PM)Tellis Wrote: Well, you could have, at the very least, looked up JoJo's Bizarre Adventure on this here thing called the internet which would have taken you like two seconds to see the art style and that it makes sense and then you could have researched for like a minute more and seen how much of an impact JoJo has had on so many things and why people are excited about this. So yeah, I'd call not doing the bare minimum amount of research and making a general dismissal of something you know nothing about kind of a dumb move?

Anyway, yeah, from what I've played of Cyberconnect2's games, I'm really not too worried! It looks like way more polish is going into this than the Naruto games, and even those are some really fun games. I am seriously hyped for this game. I just really hope that Namco isn't super dumb and actually localizes this...

Okay that made me lol - guess I was being stupid. CC2's Asura's Warth defiantly had polish (if not substance) and this being (apparently) a rather big license I'm guessing budget isn't going to be an issue. I believe the anime is coming to America (soonish?) so the chances are we'll see this outside of Japan.

However Namco has a bad habit of killing games (Splatterhouse, Enslaved) so whether they'll actually advertise it instead of sending it out to die is something we'll have to wait and see.

I have heard about this series, but never really read it, i watched the abridged version of the series if that counts, also lets hope this gets green lighted for outside of Japan, sadly most of the jo jo games are japan only -.-, but i have faith that this one will be released outside of Japan!
What Rips am i doing next not sure?

To be honest, I find this is quite exciting; I hope they can fit in as many characters as possible in the roster, as long as they're not in the game just for presence's sake.
From the little we can see, the art style is looking great and quite close to the manga's art, and the animations are decent.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they are going to make some of the characters work, like the Hanged Man, or Khnum/Thoth or Cream stands.
This has huge potential in regards to the uniqueness of each character, but also how they can integrate their different abilities in the context of a fighting game genre, both of which the developers must tap into in an original, effective and enjoyable way!

The stakes are high.

Now the only things that's left is Johnny and Part 1 characters like Johnathan (and Dio, obviously) and that's it for the pretty much predictable characters. I wonder if Koichi will make into the cut, his abilities are interesting enough and he's a great character.

Also, since the logo has an anchor mark, I suppose that "Josuke" from Jojolion will be on it too.
