This is how I got the mass-makeover so far:
Shubibinman Raita: Probably one of the easier designs to mess with, considering how the sources were staring right in my face and all.
Shubibinman Azuki: This one was a bit hard to do, since I needed to keep the theme with Raita, yet stick within the origional character's pallete. It's a good thing most of their colors are shared.
Professor Jinguii: Most. Easiest. Design. Tweaks. Ever. All I had to do was put him in a room full a dynamite and BOOM goes the.. well, you know.. dynamite. And there we go, a professor that still works his ass off even after "death", as death was lazy that day.
The B.B. Dan (the bad guys) might not get enough of a full makeover since I'm almost outta time to pick out some good designs for them, oh well. Can't have everything I guess..

Hmm I'd perfer to see your entry to be bigger (esp since they are smaller than the original sprites), I like the over all concept however.
Larger sprites mean more detail you can add.

Also final draft on my sprite(updated the breasts shadow and changed that squashed looking foot)

It's looking great, Virtuaboy! I think one thing you can improve on is the shape of the pixel clusters on the legs (shins), and perhaps the highlights on the breasts could do with some experimentation: should it be a curve, like yours, another shape, or a disc/square? Personally I'd go for an oval shape.

Well, considering how much time I got left I don't think it's possible, but maybe after the compo's over.. maybe. But suddenly now, I just had a lightbulb light up in my head. I have an idea what to do with these.

You may notice that you set the eyes quite far apart, whereas in the original sprite, they are closer: this is due to the angle of the nose. As Keiang pointed out, I think the size of the mouth is making the character look younger, so making it bigger will set the face to more adut proportions. The same applies to the chin, and this is the feature, along with the jawline, that will help us determine the gender more easily: a small, fine chin is a feminine tendency, and a bigger, blockier chin is a masculine tendency.
I hope this helps! The original sprites nose looks a bit too long considering he was looking upwards; I wasn't sure how it'd look down, so I assumed it would stick out more. When I saw my work I thought it looked a little like a Shin Megami Tensei meets Gunstar Heroes clash :o

His face in that pic I linked looks far too young and small for his body... it was really confusing lol. I think the designers didn't realise he has a tiny head!
I had a fight with his chin and lost xD
Your points are very helpful and appreciate your edit to the work. Looks like the Compo thingy is over though but I had some feedback and hope to improve next time
I generally draw people in weird ways so I let my own style overtake the original when I should flex my styles of art more. I'm still new to spriting so all feedback is good feedback. Thanks everyone

There may be flaws with BB Dan Commander Galko, but I think I still have time for Kagemaru unless proven naught/correct some of Galko's flaws. Overall I think this might've been just the thing I needed for the past few days..

Yeah, I dunno. I was trying to fix the pose with a He-Man squat thing, but I think somewhere along the lines it failed. It's probably still too stiff. I changed the hand and head proportions though, in addition to redesigning them a bit.
Head looks kinda weird to me, but I think I'm done with it.
