Just thought to post some of my Touhou work as I go along. I've been drawing quite a few of the characters lately. For those not familiar with them, I'll put up a link to their page on the Touhou Wiki. My style has changed since the first time I started drawing them, as you'll soon see.

That will be all for now.

Looks good.
Momiji is missing. :/
I can't comment on them with greater detail but the anatomy looks off. The body looks really long and the head is a tad too big. The arms are of different length in some pics and things that are supposed to be straight, like those iron bars, aren't. the shading is really flat (it just follows the side without giving actual volume).
also some of the designs are really bonkers but I guess that's Zun's fault

And thanks Gors. Though just so you know, these are past works. Not very recent at all. But thanks for the input though. I'll try to make the next ones look better.

Nue seems a little off, I can't quite point it out.

1.) Is Yoshika impersonating Hsien-Ko?
2.) If the leg on Nue closest to us were to be like that, her hip would be improbably far back compared to the rest of her torso.
Yeah, there are pretty weird proportions, mainly around the limbs. Also, the shading could use more variables to it, experiment with it!
Believe it or not, the way ZUN shades in charactes are pretty weird too
Zun it a terrible artist tbh, what makes the characters shine are the fanarts

The shading is a little bland--may I suggest, instead of overlaying black (as it looks like you're doing), to use a darker color--or even better, try changing the hue around a bit to make it pop. Here's a tutorial for sprites that explains it better than I can, but it applies just as much to regular art as well:
Hope it helps. This is especially important for skin--giving it reddish shading can make someone look more alive and healthy rather than a dull, zombieish tan.

That may work with sprites, but drawings are more complicated than that. Since it doesn't really use exact colors.

While obviously not being a perfect match, the basic information still translates to other art forms. Hue, saturation, contrast all matter in digital paintings, too.
Moreover, take a look at DragonBoy's drawings here again, he apparently does work with rather exact colours in these pieces!
