Wow.

It was a great movie! Awesome premise and likeable characters. As much as it looks like, it doesn't specifically cater to gamers; the references (like Donkey Kong, Mario Kart and even METAL GEAR SOLID) and cameos are just used to their full potential.

One thing I love about this movie is that it follows up. To those who haven't seen it yet, pay attention when M.Bison asks Ralph if he's "going Turbo". That line will come full circle later on.

The story has a great moral about how our actions truly make the difference in the end.

Overall, I'll give this game a 9.5/10. I took off one point because of the fact that Zangief is a villain. Yeah, he's a pain to fight (damn spammable grab move that takes no time at to beat you...), but he's not really a BAD GUY....

Yup. I'm a Touhou fan.

I think he's there to show that, now that I remember that back then, Street Fighter didin't have much of a story so it was hard to tell "who was good" and "who was bad" (like many other details in the hayday, aka protoman). And as such, since Zangeif looked intimidating, he ended up on the "bad guy list" and was appropriately treated as such until the expansion of the universe (it also shows in the Street Fighter cartoon, you know, the one with the YES.. YES! meme?).

I want to see this actually (and that's saying something because I am not a television person) but as usual no one around here ever goes to theaters (unless my cousin is lucky enough to, and he's the only one) so we're pretty much gonna be the last people to see it. >:I
I read all the posts up to DragonBoy's and I stopped halfway through his because it felt like it was stating spoilers. But eh none of what I have read are much of spoilers besides the parts of certain characters and franchises making appearances and I doubt those are really big spoilers in the first place since they're video games.

I read recently that the director made Zangief a villain because he, personally had so much trouble fighting him as a kid.

While Mario didn't make a physical appearance he was mentioned! When Ralph rings the doorbell, Felix says "Oh it must be Mario, fashionably late as always". So yeah that's as close as we are going to get there.

Also I loved it

Jesus Christ the designs were beautiful

That doesn't sound right.
Rich Moore is 49, and SFII came out in arcades in 1991. He would've been 28 around then. The Simpsons episodes he directed start with season one's The Telltale Head. (early 1990)

This bad guy confusion dates back to the live-action movie. Which also swapped roles with Balrog and Dee Jay. Rolleyes

Quote:That’s all me. I argued so hard and so long about it. [Laughs] Rich’s hair grew three shades of grey greyer as a result of this battle. Because I grew up playing Street Fighter, and Zangief was not a good guy! He was very mean to me! Regularly. And in Zangief’s heart of hearts I know he has a little remorse over some of the things he did me, personally. So, no, it’s sort of the idea of… What I do is bad. I squish people. I do spinning piledrivers. All this stuff. But I’m a good guy, and really that’s the message Ralph needs to hear.

Watched it. It was really, really good. I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional.

could have made better use of video game licenses but still good

Disagree. That's like watching Roger Rabbit and wanting more Mickey and Bugs. They were in there to help create the world as background elements. It builds on them.

I saw a real cartoon everywhere I looked in Roger Rabbit

I saw only a few legitimate game characters and only for a short time
