This is how it looks on my Android if I zoom out to view them all:

For reference, the odd spacing present in my screenshot seems to have fixed itself. I imagine it was just a display glitch.

Hm I'll see what I can do regarding Donkey Kong stuff.

Is there maybe a way to quickly download all the sheets for a single game instead of having to open and save each one individually?

Not currently. I'd quite like to make this possible for us temporarily when working on these though, as it could make this whole process a little easier. I'll talk to Pete about it tomorrow (or he'll post directly after me if not)

There isn't currently but I'll look into making it happen. I'm sure it's possible to auto-create zips but I'm not sure how to do it yet and we obviously don't have pre-made zips of all of a sheets games at the ready. If/when I do get this feature up though, just be aware that it will only be for the icon conversion process though - it would wind up being a rather massive bandwidth hog if it's something we provided on the site for real. We're currently over 1/4 of the way there with game icons (though really it's just me and RTB doing them ) - If we finish up the game icons before sheets, we should implement the game icons first. I know it'll look weird while we transition the sheet icons, but it'll at least make maintaining the site easier for the time being and begin the migration.
I'd like to call dibs on my NES & GB( C ) racers:
- RC Pro-Am - SUPER RC Pro-Am - Lego Stunt Rally - F-1 BTW If you can give me a base, is this OK?

Game Boy games are also scaled up to twice their resolution. However, we already have the new icons for the entire Game Boy section finished up, so you don't have to worry about making those.

I've also found that it would take a longer time for me to take submissions from the forum than to just do them myself. Which is why I'm now thinking that, unless you plan on doing a couple hundred and name them correctly, you're better off just leaving it to me or somebody else who plans on doing lots of stuff.

I just noticed something. With the new system, the icon text is generated directly from the sheet name, correct? Well with some sheets, the icon might have to have a different name than the sheet. The main thing that struck me are the puzzles in Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. Most sheets are called something like "Puzzles #001 - #003", but some of the sheets only contain one puzzle. To maintain the order, the sheet name still has "Puzzles" as a plural, but the icon says "Puzzle".
This wouldn't be a huge issue really, but just figured it's worth mentioning. This might be also the only occasion that it even matters, I don't know if anything similar occurs in any other games.

IMO it'd be fine to keep the singular puzzles as plural, still makes sense when you think about it. Like "Puzzles: #1" and stuff.

I suppose so, yeah. As I said it isn't a huge issue, and if it doesn't happen anywhere else then it's not really worth bothering about.

I don't like these new icons. On a low-res screen, they take up too much space and when you zoom out, they become unreadable, both in text and image. I'm using an 800p screen right now, and as it is, the site (especially the forum) has places where the screen is forced to stretch rather than wrap for some reason. Not to mention, I'm most often on a slow connection, and the icons as they are now already take a long time to load on pages with lots of them (particularly anything Pokemon-related).
Making the icons larger will just make the site a pain to browse. I guess I'm too late to voice my protest anyway, as it seems you guys have already finalized the plan. An yeah, don't say 'Well why not just use the text view?' I'll tell you why: it's cuz it makes looking for new sprites an even bigger pain because without a preview, I have to look at every sheet individually. If you guys are really gonna do this, I beg you, make it optional. We don't all have HD monitors. Most of my browsing is either done on a phone or my Pandora. PLEASE leave the small icons as an option. And for the big icons, I suggest adding big text as well, which would make them useful for accessibility.

That removes the point of making these new icons, so no, that isn't happening. You're talking about duplicating the efforts.
You're in the minority here, I'm sorry to say. Not only that, but you do have the text view as an option... you just choose not to use it. |
