If you want to split hairs like that, then allow me to do the same:
I contend that the Villager's balloon hat is NOT directly referencing Balloon Fight, because all official arts that can be found of the Balloon Fighter INCLUDING a Smash trophy and the Nintendo Land minigame features him with his balloons attached to his back, not to his helmet.

I don't know, tether recoveries are usually easy to edge guard. Even though the Villager's recovery looks like it sucks right now, you can always try a similar recovery approach as Snake. Most the time if someone with a tether recovery gets knocked off stage, that's a stock. (Barring general casual and Project M)

Yeah but, then again, there's not really any ballon hat (like that, which is definitely the Balloon Fighting one) in Animal Crossing...nor Boxing Gloves... or a Bowling Ball
People say that Mii will be in (I don't doubt it), but it seems like the Villager is taking that spot, it seems like two things already came over from Mii Sports and one from Nintendo Land, it's really weird

I'm just finding it hilarious Tingle gets almost NO representation in this topic about ballooning around
On the topic of potential balloon recoveries, why don't we add Donkey Kong and Diddy to the list

Well, the villager's a resourceful guy. I imagine he has specific fighting gear he doesn't take out around the village. Personally, if I was designing the character, there'd be a lot more axe swinging and bad luck bugs.

That's what I always thought he'd use for a recovery. I made a moveset for Villager long before I knew this game. It was pretty much the same idea as he is now, but I think most people knew he'd be pulling all these tricks for his moveset. Well except for the Balloon Fight one.

I assume these two are stage hazards.
Probably responsible for the bridge fire shown earlier.

After we've had clones since the very first game of the series and things like Kirby morphing into a panel from Panel de Pon and a Thwomp for his stone attack?
I: Seriously?
I think series crossing is fine in a CROSSOVER game.
hahaha

Probably responsible for the bridge fire shown earlier. awesome, i've discussed with a friend of mine a few weeks ago that they should be an assist trophy, but stage hazard is fine too. now imagine playing as ganondorf on that stage, so cool
i love the included support characters... actually are important to the franchise this time ( king bublin was a huge character in twilight princess, but only in that game. unlike twin rova which are important in oot, and ooa/s )
also does this mean they can also freeze the bridge
I could see a really good moveset for Tingle actually than just his balloon, look at Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland and Balloon trip of love for good references, plus wouldn't it be awesome if his game icon was a rupee, if the mario francise can have characters that have different icons why not zelda?
Also wouldn't be awesome to have Uncle Rupee the main badguy of Freshly Picked Tingles Rosy Rupeeland be a trophy or a stage Hazard or a boss?
What Rips am i doing next not sure?

I am thoroughly enjoying that every day seems to be a real update instead of just a funny picture. I mean, funny pictures are fun and all, but real info on the game is very sating.

I don't understand why the Bumper and Flipper are being treated as mutually exclusive items. They have very different applications much of the time, considering the Bumper doesn't stick around in the air as much as it used to. Not to mention the Flipper had the whole momentum mechanic where you could attack it with a projectile to get it spinning to inflict more damage/greater knockback.

Either way, the Flipper sucked.
