I actually haven't seen many indie games that showcase low poly graphics, at least in not so subtle way. I know that many of the DS games have it, which is expected for the system's limitations, but with today's limitations, I really haven't see anything that uses this style to it's full potential.

After seeing that thread, it makes me wonder why Nintendo couldn't follow that thread's example and have the DS games look like that when played on a 3DS.

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

Nor will they on the Wii U.
Regardless, the screen resolution is still too small on the 3DS to achieve these effects (as impressively)

I'm sorry, but am I the only one who doesn't like those? I've seen a thread about "DS HD" before, and I don't think it looks very good. The texture resolutions don't match and the HUD is so low-res and stands out. Also, there's no anti-aliasing.
Nah I agree with you Paladin.

Wow. Just wow. Those look beautiful. Imagine if the Wii U VC games look like that!

Totally looks like something from an N64/PSX game (bar the low res HUD)

Well, I think any DS sprite will look pretty pixellated. Textures are too, but they don't look that bad.
I think nowadays polys aren't THAT necessary. They are, for animating. But for details you can use bump maps and the such. And there are some other techniques, I think, for rounding surfaces.
But I don't know!

I've always loved the N64 polygons, not too complicated, and yet just good enough to get the job done.
