Could have sworn I joined a long time ago with a different name. =/
Oh well, I guess I'm new here, then. The name's the Scarlet One and I'm yet another sprite artist on the web. I'm most active on the Middle Ground but unfortunately spriting-wise it's kind of died.

So I figured I would check this place out.
Here's a few things I've worked on.

One of my characters done in TFR style. Doubt I'll actually join in the roster as it would be weird to have someone just joined be in it.

Two characters I'm working on for a tag team tourny back on the MG.

A pokedex for a post apocalyptic pokemon fan game I was making way back when, but slowed down on after not having anyone to program for it:

and speaking of pokemon, a little project I'm doing to remake fakemon from pokemon quartz to be in B&W style as well as look more like something Ken Sugimori's style.

(New versions obviously below the original ones)

I think the red hedgehog character...his fur has too much contrast per shade causing him to look like he was dunked in some sort of vegetable oil. but other than that, these are some really nice sprites.

Yeah, I have to say that's the first time I've ever opened a spoiler, saw Fakemon, and said "Oho damn"

With the eye of a harsh critic, I'd say that they're still not Sugimori-esque - but the influence is definitely present, and they resemble Sugimori's style much, much MUCH more. Like - you've totally done the Quartz Fakemon justice.
Your own post-apocalyptic Fakemon on the other hand do have quite a few [more like 3/4 of them, lol] that look like they could pass as Sugimori designs (why is that steel-type train bug so GENIUS)

Hell, Quartz's sprites are honestly the thing that held me back from playing it for so long. They look like characters you'd see painted on the walls of a Chuck E Cheese - but yours look 200% more legit.
If you inserted your own work in place of its current sprites, I'd probably play the shit out of Quartz Tongue

shoutouts to cutesu for the new av!

Yeah, I agree. The pokemon designs are very good, they have a sort of style that separates them from the official pokemon, but you can still tell that they're pokemon.
I guess they're just very unique and clever.

While I will admit that I was turned off a little by the Sonic fan characters you posted, I took a look at your other sprites and I am honestly impressed! I would say more, but what Kosheh said is something I couldn't have said better myself.

What other sprites do you have up your sleeves? If your other work is as good as this, then I'd love to see you post more and give this forum the fresh sprite talent it deserves!

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

Well a lot of my sprites haven't been expanded upon to the extent I'd prefer.
Those being my own story characters are not simply because I plan on drawing the comics I use them in. (Unless I do something like a fighting game with them.)

On the other hand the sonic style sprites are that way because they're fixed up versions of old sheets I made for them back in '06. Kind of a restoration project because I felt like just shunning my past work was immature. Their drawn designs I differentiated a bit from sonic so they could be their own thing, but kept the sprites as is for simplicity's sake.

Now here's some characters from one of my continuities in no specific order. (some are a little older and not as well shaded I'm aware.)

A Little monster, who's design I'm rather found of.

I still need to give him wings at some point.

Besides the slight banding, this is quite good! The skull feels a bit flat compared to the body.

I honestly tried to look for what banding you meant, but I think you'll have to point it out to me.

In the mean time I've been playing around with animation again. This time, the 7th(?) reimagining of a character from a game I made way back in 2006.
3 frames:[Image: 4r1zfME.gif]
4 frames:[Image: AwRILGc.gif]
Not quite done, and I'm not sure if I prefer the bouncy look created with 3 frames or the more uniform look with 4.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. After that, I might add more frames for squishing down or something to give it a cutesy, kirby-like appeal.

Its upper body seems overall a little static. Maybe you can give a little more movement to its arms? As a sidenote, the way the tuft on its hat chips at the upper right corner and the way the shading changes on the hat as it moves is a little funny.

You have some pretty neat stuff though, nice job!
