So what about the prinny seen there?
Is that all rippable?
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you

I've been through ANIME.DAT, but I haven't seen any compressed data inside.
Part of the data in the top of that screenshot is probably Cell data, and another part is certainly animation data.

I've seen only one compressed file the the whole game; inside SYSTEM.DAT there is a file, start.lzs, which most likely has the data for Prinny.
It seems I've got the basic format of the compression, but there's quite some garbage when decompressing:

Not giving up yet, though.
I've uploaded the compressed and somewhat-decompressed file here

Also, if you like, you can use this unpacked version of ANIME.DAT. Since the files inside ANIME.DAT have names, the data should be a bit more organised this way.

Yes, both Prinny Baal and Prinny Laharl are perfectly rippable, bu --

I... I... *digs around for an appropriate picture*

(Ah, that was the most appropriate I could find right now. So sue me.)

I'm definitely going to give credit to you on the sheet for this. (Unless you want to rip it yourself. In that case, go right ahead!) Big Grin

What the hell is going on there! Blank

That's a new look to me, but still, looks fairly awesome! Big Grin

Well the scarf/muffler is a separate object, if that's what you're talking about (though it isn't, I'm sure of it). If you're talking about all of the garbage pixels, that's to be expected when you don't have the decompressor perfected. (Though that's not what you meant, either. I'm a bit confused and frustrated after those events last night.)

It's really nice to have people like Barubary on tSR, people that are a lot more experienced with sprite ripping than myself. Cute

That's Neat, Barubary! Maybe I'm going off-topic,but, ripping tiles from MS6's PS2 version is possible?

I'm pretty sure I've seen some backgrounds ripped from Metal Slug 6, so it's a possibility that sprites could be ripped, too.

So, MS6's graphic files are somehow compressed?

As far as I know, yes, they are... which is a pity, because I want to rip Tarma's sprites that are exclusive to that game. (Then I can pretty much say that I have every single one of his sprites.)

And the last question, Is there a way to descompress the files?

Well, if Barubary just figured out the compression for the Prinny game, then it's quite possible to crack the compression for Metal Slug 6. It won't use the same type, but it's still possible.

...I have no knowledge of encryption/compression on sprites, so I'm of no help. Sick

Just a small improvement now, but probably good for an update; link
There's still quite some rubbish around the characters, but everything else seems to be in the correct place now. Only large sets of zeroes seem to produce leftover data, so things like the mugshots and other 8bpp images should be rippable now.
It's probably something simple I'm missing, but I'm not seeing it at the moment. =/
