Bastendorf Custom Sprite
#1
I wasn't really going to bother anyone, any further, but I figured I'd start my own thread to prove two things.

1) I was wrong. 2) I listened to everyone.

For those who didn't see the thread where this all happened, I posted a custom sprite of mine to try and prove heavy detail was possible in small sprites, to defend another user's custom sprites. My larger sprites became the target of some constructive criticism, which I was a little annoyed about, at the time. One user surprised me by making a few mods to my larger sprites, to show me that I still had some learning to do and improvements to make.

Everyone made valid points. I studied those points and the mod, and then started working on fixing up my sprites. Since I didn't want to give the impression that I ignored everyone, I created this thread as proof that I read every word.

Sorry to those who felt offended by my poor choice of words. I had no intention of coming off arrogant.

His legs haven't really been worked on much. I still plan on fixing the weird angle his foot's at, and there's still stuff I have to do with the areas I have edited.

Thanks everyone, for the advice you gave me, and for helping me out. (And if you wish to continue giving help and tips, I promise I won't be as defensive.)
I tend to get into this stubborn kind of state, like "No, shut up, it's perfect, you know nothing!" And then it takes me a good amount of stewing in denial and irritation, then comes self doubt, then acceptance comes and I am able to stop being defensive and blind, and improve my spriting.

Nice sprite and design. I just recommend making the hair on the back of his head a little more spread and spikier, to go well with the hair on the top.

Thanks. Smile
The hair on his neck is spiky in reality, I just left it out on the sprite because I though it would look bad. I could experiment, though.

Completely spiked up hair update. I actually like it better spiked in the back than the one where I left the spikes out.
Though, I can't help but wonder if he looks a little too DBZ now.

He does look pretty good. Not DBZ spikey but Chrono Spikey to me. The shading in the new version does look good too.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback. I can live with Chrono Spikey X)

I agree, the spiky hair is an improvement. Do you plan on animating this? If you do, remember to have the movement of the hair one frame behind the body to give it some weight.

Thanks for the second opinion. I do plan on animating it, which should prove to be the hardest thing I've ever animated, but I'll be keeping his hair in mind at all times. Smile Thanks though.
