This is why I think they should've made the Wii U's internal hard drives much larger. The games use Blu-Ray discs (or "Wii U Optical Discs", as they call them, but we all know they're just Blu-Rays), which hold up to 25-50 GB, and many of the games are very big in size, so for those who prefer to have their games digital, they gotta buy an external hard drive just to store all of these games.

Considering that Nintendo are usually compression wizards, that says a lot about the amount of content.

Also, here's hoping that this new direct follows the entertaining format of the recent ones we've had.

Um...no. Tecmo Koei may be a third-party developer, but the game is still owned and published by Nintendo.

That's what I mean though. Nintendo's Compression Wizards wouldn't have any involvement with this.

I think Nintendo shares their compression techniques with some of the bigger developers... I mean, I come to this conclusion after having ripped my Wii collection to USB, but it looks like the more Nintendo-friendly developers have smaller filesizes despite superior content while the more outside developers all have the filesizes in the 3-4 gb range.

Yes they would, it's a collaboration with a third party, which means Ninetndo has a heavy hand in this.

Whether or not it's being done by a third party, Nintendo would still have to finalize everything for download or disc production.
Doofenshmirtz: This is a little bit awkward but have you seen my escape jet keys? (Perry nods) What, you have? Well that's great! So where are they? (Perry looks away) You won't tell me? Is this because you don't speak or are you just being a jerk?

Downloads are a good point, actually. I'm not sure how that all works, but I figure all the games available on the eShop are on computers at Nintendo's HQs throughout the world. I imagine they would want to work their compression wizardry on pretty much everything simply to get the most out of their storage and bandiwdth consumption, right?

...No, not really they wouldn't. This game is probably mostly Tecmo Koei and some Aonuma input.

Yeah.

Tecmo Koei seems to consistently be unable to put a whole Warriors game on one side of a DVD disc so I doubt compression has to do a whole lot of anything, lol

(Nintendo, though aren't really "compression masters" - Tomodachi Life has A LOT of content but it also uses lots of system stuff (i.e. Miis) and almost nearly everything is textures and flat sprites. They have pretty minimal "game specs" to begin with Tongue
...though i don't think you could consider a picture of salisbury steak a "sprite", lol)

Welp, Saria best say good bye to any chances she had at being playable.

Lana's moves look pretty fun, though, admittedly
