Doctor Grey's Sprite Thread.
#1
I'm Doctor Grey. I sporadically make decent sprites. Mostly of my own creations or projects. If I can be bothered, I will sometimes edit this first post to update as a showcase, but the most recent posts will always be the most relevant.

Obviously, the following are not public domain resources and you should not use them yourself.

Personal Projects:

This is Grey. This version of Grey uses an overall 256 bit colour pallate not shown, but does have a map of colours used on him specifically there.

This is Mina. She uses the same 256 bit colour pallate as Grey. I still have critique from my prior sprite thread I haven't acted on with regard to her headfeathers requiring a reshade.

Sprites based on other works:

This is Dust and Ahrah from Dust: An Elysian Tail. I specifically limited myself to 16 bit colour (Gameboy Advance more specifically.) It's sortof Megaman Zero styled. Created from scratch.

This is Zero. Zero series Zero's design in Megaman X3's style/pallate. There are a couple of errors. It's largely an edit, so that's probably why.

I like those Zeros... If I had to pick one of the two at the bottom it would have to be the first one.

Berkana from Megaman Xtreme 2, created from scratch, sans a couple of the pallate selections. There's a bit of redundancy in the pallate and a couple of unused colours, but whatever. It's nothing that really needs fixing.

The PSX Megaman X style is very curious in it's pallate "limitations", in that it actually doesn't have any. Sprites can be rendered in true colour, so unlike the SNES or Gameboy/Gameboy Advance, it's not limited to specific shades. That was both a curse and a blessing for making the sprite.

Nice to know we have at least two people who can do good Sonic sprites. Also, kick-ass Dust!

I have pretty much no intention of being known as someone who does "Sonic" sprites good or otherwise, for various reasons. So I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you there.

Was X-treme the GBC version? I don't think I ever got around to that one. Is it good?

It's basically just the first Megaman X game with a different storyline and some stuff from X2 mixed in. It's OK for a GB game, but overall kinda lame in concept. I think just porting the first to X games to GBC would have been better.

I have not myself played either game. But Xtreme 2 had the same art designers as Megaman X4, and they did put a lot of work into it. They're decent entries in the series from what I hear, atleast. The artwork and reading through the story was what caught my eye and prompted me to do this.
