Well I think it's because the original one was intended to be this incredibly cheesy funny thing, while the GameCube one was done by an actual rap artist. I remember Grant Kirthope talking about it when they played DK64 on Guest Grumps
I think the main thing that the original has going for it is nostalgia. But since I grew up with Smash Bros instead of DK64...

Not gonna lie, I think the GCN version is way better. Lanky Kong's part is so swank.

It's a pain in the ass to catch a Heracross. It's also incredibly disappointing to find a female Heracross after headbutting trees for four hours.
Fun fact, Heracross can flee in GSC

Because of they're weaker than male Heracross
I'm not kidding. In Crystal, gender is determined by the attack IV. If it is 7 or less, the Pokemon is female. If it 8 or more, the Pokemon is male. This was intended, btw
An attack IV is important for a Heracross. Fun fact, a Pokemon with a gender ratio of 7:1 can't be female and shiny.
