Beginner. Help needed.

I have recently found out about the site and I'm loving the sprites. I am planning on using some on a Unity project, but I'm encountering a problem. Whenever I slice the sprites sheet there the background color stays on it. So I was hoping if someone would tell me a way to make sprite's backgrounds transparent.

You'd have to use a graphical program that supports transparency and replace the background manually.

I recommend Paint.NET.
