I quickly made this sprite sheet of Metal Slime from Dragon Warrior/Quest. I know it's an edit, but at least it isn't a straight up recolor.

For those curious what has been worked on for the project. Not everything presented was done by me or is finished, but this is the stuff we've put together so far. Now that the comic is on hiatus until next year, I should have some time to work more on this.

While I'm working on Mario: I rediscovered this old sheet from earlier in the project. I never got around to organizing it, but it's here for the world to see:

And now Mario is (mostly) done. I patterned his hammer swing (as well as Luigi's) after the one in Dream Team, but I'm not satisfied with them.

Made this real quick while I had some time. Point out any flaws you see.

The back leg is a little small compared to the one in the foreground. I know you're going for a strong silhouette and exaggerating your foreshortening a bit, but it looks really strange to me.
Other than that, very nice base sprite. The AA is well-done and the colors are a winner. Thanked by: SmithyGCN

Okay, fixed the leg and took it upon myself to add shadows behind the spikes on his shell.

The reflection above his eye kind if makes his hair look separated from his head.
Fixed.
I have five animations so far (two of them aren't worth posting since they're just talking and blinking), but I'm having trouble with his claw swipe animation. Any tips? Thanked by: Ton

His arm has very little motion to it(relative to the desired effect). There needs to be more follow through, a swing. right now it just moves down, try adding some depth movement to it as well. and remember the quick in/slow out rule.
Something seems off with the way that shading moves on his left leg on the sidling (?) animation. It just jitters around weirdly on his thigh. Thanked by: SmithyGCN

Tried fixing the shading on the legs. Look any better?

Improved the claw swipe. It now allows Bowser to attack above and below if the player is crouching.

I think the shading just moves too much on that leg. Its about the same on the better/worse scale.
for sake of being able to understand it, i split the image in viewer, i hope you dont mind. I do not understand the transition between 8 and 9. It makes very little sense motion wise. and when bowser swings to the side in 3d space, i would not blur the body itself, just his arm. Secondly i think a better reference for this attack would be to study bowsers animations in smash bros. bowsers claw swings move more like slaps than they do jabs like you have now. IT gives a better range of movement in depth as well as a more wide swing arc.

I see what you mean, but sadly, I can't just look up youtube videos on my ISP as I only get a set number of gbs a month. My ability to look up references is VERY limited. But, if someone could screen capture Bowser's attack, I'd be very grateful.
