You know, I was actually part of the chat that led to these huge changes in sengir's life and behavior, and I probably know more about her personally than any of you so idk why you're acting like there's some great mystery that I'm not in the know about.

I was responding to the people who were acting like they somehow know a million more pieces of information than I do, because they're trying to use that as some kind of pedestal over me when that's probably not the case. I don't know you much personally, particularly after the fact, but it doesn't even matter either way.

I'm not even speaking from the perspective of someone who doesn't like you (I don't like others like kojjiro either). I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who thinks it's unacceptable to let someone break the rules callously and then offer them a hand immediately afterward. Like, you know it's probably not going to end well, but you think it's okay to let everyone suffer anyway? What do you even think your role in the community is, if not to try to avoid making it even more unhealthy than it already is? What is even the point

As a response to everyone who's so fixated on why I care: You know, letting trolls back in was a fairly big part of the reason I quit in the first place. It's just so pathetic and repetitive. It's really only about time someone said something.

i could (theoretically) make an alt and plaster the forum with dicks within ten minutes of a ban. i mean that was over a year ago in a time where i could legally plea insanity due to the somersaults my endocrine system was doing (not that i dont take responsibility nor feel bad about it), but i could theoretically do it in ten minutes. i have a folder of neatly-manscaped penises of varying length and girth ready to go (i plead the fifth on this one, lads).

now if my end goal is to do that. or if i "know" this isn't going to end well. why on earth am i doing this within the system. if i really really wanted to harass everyone i probably wouldnt just blatantly lie to one of my closest confidants and also Petie (actually i mean theres no reason for Petie to believe me so that doesnt carry the same gravitas). I most certainly wouldnt give up being a memeshit for a long game that has an identical outcome to a short game. like jeez u have a detective game character in ur avatar i think

youve been tossing out a lot of "i dont care"s for someone pretty passionate about rebanning someone (that you do have a personal beef with, dont pretend you want to reban me "on principal" as if banning me an n-teenth time would make you come back) on a forum youve made less than 20 posts on in the span of a year. look. starsocks. i too do not care. ok u dont like me. cool. my all-new method of solving this (thanks in part to Petie's advice prior to unbanning me) is to not talk to u. like i wont talk to u if u wont talk to me. i promise.

StarSock, I obviously don't know you well either but I never pegged you as someone who would blatantly ignore answers to your (unasked but implied) questions. I covered quite a bit in my earlier reply that neatly invalidates almost everything you've said (to a degree; I suppose the end result still needs to be seen) and yet you've steadfastly stuck to your same couple of points while not acknowledging anything to their contrary. It makes for a rather weak position when you started with such grandiose statements.

The harm is that none of you have the judgment to ban her when she skirts the line of what's acceptable behavior and you've all proven that again and again.

I'd argue that it would be more so to assume the same course of action that has failed time and time again would be the right path here.

This isn't something I said earlier, but I guess I'd argue that being really adamant and consistent with your ban is the truly new idea. Not just doing whatever you feel like, or saying "it's totally your last chance" or whatever. That's no different from every other time.

We went back and forth a few times and the gist of the conversation was that she hasn't really had a fair shot to return in a long time given that all of her returns were ill-advised alts and shit-posting when she didn't get her way.

I am pretty sure that most people would say that is a good reason to say no to her request. Feeling otherwise is bordering on Stockholm syndrome

We've recently unbanned another long-time trouble maker as they had been banned for years and I'm a firm believer that time can improve people, especially when the trouble started when they were young and immature.

To which I say,

someone disrespecting your rules/decision enough to post on alts like it's no big deal is enough reason to believe they haven't changed and they don't deserve another chance for the foreseeable future

I don't know what happened with this other trouble-maker, but I sure hope they didn't make an alt LITERALLY THE DAY BEFORE because otherwise that was a similarly poor decision

I wasn't sure if some of that was directed at me or not but okay, now that I know the context, your earlier replies make a bit more sense. The one major part that you're ignoring in all of this, though, is that we've never let her back before. She comes back, we find out, she gets banned. That's always been the process and it's never worked so it was time to try something I hadn't tried yet (though which has, apparently, been tried in the past - something I wasn't aware of at the time). So we actually have been consistent with the ban in the past and it simply hasn't been effective for one reason or another.

And no, the other recent unbanning was handled with significantly different circumstances not limited to the lack of alts.

and no disrespect as we're pals snegie. i sorta get what starsock's saying; these unbans lately seem representative of a shift of attitudes here at vgr. you're like the third notable banned member making their return.
but i'm kind of wondering what vgr really has to offer here that makes people keep coming back. we have literally nothing to offer but a library of video game pictures, and the community revolves around people who probably actually hate leaving the house.

I mostly left because prominent members of the userbase are horrible, but seeing trolls getting handed a seat at the table and a full course meal every single time they ask didn't really help

As for why I spoke up, it's like when I was a little kid watching my dad do a little construction project. He didn't measure beforehand and was just kind of winging it, so naturally it came out wrong. So he tried again, without measuring, and it came out wrong again. Then he tried again. Still wrong. Then he FINALLY decided to just measure the stupid thing and got it right.

Me being an innocent little kid was like, why didn't he just measure in the first place? To which my mom told me, "shh!" to spare his poor pride

But imagine it's years later and my dad does the same god dang thing. I don't think he would, but for God's sake I would be so furious with him like you cannot watch someone make the same mistake for years and not want to slap some sense into them, you've got to be kidding me
