Curious Villagers 3D modelling projects.
#1
Hello, I've been working on a few projects and I thought I should probably post two of them here for some advice and suggestions etc. I've been working on modelling the character Flora from the Professor Layton series after I've seen a concept art of her as well as the Layton mobile from the same series.

For Flora I also modeled some facial expressions for her similar to how characters like Toon Link and Ness where designed in Super Smash Bros 4. Her eye pupils can be moved around via the UV editor so that they can be animated similarly to how Toon Link's eyes work. (From what I understood after watching this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWxAw_mVASM )

I started practicing 3D modelling this year but I'm hoping to improve on it further as time goes on. I'm hoping to also get some advice on how to rig the dress so that it can animate fluently along with the rest of the model as well as doing bump information onto the model too (Such as giving the dress a cotton look).

These models have been made via Blender.

The following model is now available for public use.

I really like this model, this is cool! I hope you upload this to the Model-Resource. The textures are light, and clean and overall nice

Thank you. I'm happy to hear that my first 3D model seems to be well received.

There is still a few things that need to be done with them though before I can make them available for public use.

I am hoping to do a few other Professor Layton characters (As well as characters from other series) too at some point, but I guess I'll see how that will go..... ^^

Thanks again for the nice response. I'm happy to hear that the model has turned out well, I've also made an alternate costume for her based on the outfit she had at the end of Curious Village. I may need to do a couple more tweaks and then I'll consider uploading it here. ^^

Anyway.

I've also now started work on Captain Linebeck from Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I'm aiming to make a model with the graphical look for him that would appear like it came from the Wind Waker. I'll have a think if I would do the same for any other characters from the DS Zelda's.

The overall model is still a work in progress as some further additions and tweaks still need to be done but I hope the final product turns out alright too.

I'd like to credit TeridaxXD001 and Mystie as well for making some of the Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker models available for reference.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that a lot. I do try my best to make sure these characters look as closely as possible as their canon appearance. ^^

Anyway, I thought you guys might like to see this.

As of now, I more or less completed two characters now. Flora from the Professor Layton series, and Zelda from the Wind Waker (I know there already existed a 3D model for her, but I've went the extra mile to make a high poly model for her too.)

As of now I'm struggling a bit in making decent looking normal maps for the ears but other than that, the two characters are done. Hope you enjoy. ^^

Ps. Tetra is also in the works for those who are interested.

Beautiful models and shading. It just needs more subdivision surface on the head.

I've done a Luke model as well actually, although I didn't really like how he turned out so I'll probably be doing him again.... ^^

Thank you, I'll see if I can straighten that out a bit.

By the way, I'm also doing a Pokemon Sun and Moon Style Lyra from Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver.

Hopefully the angle doesn't look too awkward....

By the way, I'm probably going to upload some of these models here soon.

These models look nice. One thing about the renders, though.

You need to remove smoothing seams (Notable near Zelda's eyes). If you're using Blender. Go in edit mode, select the mesh, and under edge, use "Clear Sharp" (Control + E can access the menu easily).

Unless I'm slow, and you already know that. That can be ignored.
I like to make models in my free time. I also make weird games, too.

I see, I do have some troubles with Zelda's face as her facial sprites don't seem to remain consistent unless I specifically click on them and they give off odd shades and seams when I render them. I guess I'll have a further look on how to fix that.

Thanks for the feedback and advice by the way.

Try to use Velvet shader for clothes if you use Blender Cycles, it can add a photorealistic effect.
