Ok, i will edit/resprite them so that they aren't as awful, but take into consideration that pokemon later in the game may not be quite so bad.

No.
Change them entirely.
Make totally new starters.

Get more original with them while you're at it, don't just change it to something more generic.

Try making starters that are different from the others but not stupid-looking and generic. Experiment with type combinations. If you have to, and sometimes it's easier, make the third evolution of your starter and just progressively downgrade the design to a second form, and then downgrade even further and boom, you have your new starter. It's always better to look ahead when it comes to making starter designs, I'd say. Maybe someone else with more experience could say otherwise, but until then I'd just say try out my idea.

Here's some help:

grass= always some type of reptilian

fire= some sort of animal related to pop culture

water= some type of semi aquatic animal thats somewhat related to amphibians/aquatic reptiles

follow this pattern IF you want your pokemon to look like pokemon, if not do something else but not make it bad but original.

Hello, I am Brainee1. I am the secondary spriter for PSL. I always talk in short, boring sentences this way.

Not really. I'm the one responsible for Sworm, the water starter. Or at least its current sprite seen here.

I would just like to note, that, to my knowledge, there is only one grass-type reptillian starter Pokemon. Treeko's evolution line. This is original. Get used to an imagination, because some people are blessed with it.
I share your oppinion on the fire starter.
As for Sworm, it does evolve into something similar to what Anubis described. Please also understand that this game is in its EARLY STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT. People who judge a young game by its sprites, are greatly misguided. Few have the time for both bug reduction and sprites. Clower is still using its concept art!

And yes, Clower is a clover growing out of a stump which looks remarkably like a pile of tergus faecem.

Hehe I love Latin.

Mmhhmm, because "Flareguana" is so brilliant.
If you were blessed, as you say, then I don't think you'd be making a Pokémon fangame.

Bulbasaur is a dinosaur.
Chikorita is a dinosaur.
Treecko is a wood gecko.
Turtwig is a turtle.

They're all reptiles.

Well according to your knowledge, dinosaurs and turtles aren't reptiles. And with that knowledge you don't seem to know that bulbasaur and chikorita lines are obviously reptile related, and not knowing turtwig(a turtle) and other pokemon makes me stumped on why make a pokemon game when you can't even remember the starters? And the one who needs to get used to an imagination is you sir, because at the "current" state of your water starter, it's the most unoriginal out of the 3 sprites. It's just a tiny blue worm-thing.

And I can already see at the "current" level you guys were at with pokemon designs and names, they were not gonna be much better than what you already had. What me and other posters were giving above were criticism on where to improve on, and your first priority is the pokemon. I'm not misguided because I've worked on a pokemon game before, so I know what the hell I'm talking about.

What we're trying to say, and ONLY trying to say: The pokemon designs look bad, the names are bad, and the sprites look bad.
And with that, the game is malus peior pessimus.

Hehe I love Latin.

I have been corrected. Though Bulbasaur is really just very odd, I had no idea that chicorita was a dino, and was spacing Turtwig because I do not play 4th gen very often. As for the imagination bit, Anibus, if I were to resprite Togepi, would I really be able to change it from a cute spike ball to a giant fearsome monster? Though this is hyperbole, what I am saying is that there was a misunderstanding, this was a resprite. (By the way, did you look that up online, or are you taking/have taken Latin?)

By the way, if you want to judge names, consider that these are better than many 4th gen and some 3rd gen names I've seen. Bidoof is just a little corny, sorry. And I thought designs for the first evo were supposed to look bad? Or is it only my oppinion that none of the starters look very good at first? (Some of them don't get any better) Got nothing to say about the sprites. We're far from pro yet, though we could, and have, done better.

Thanks for the input, some of the people were cussing, making it appear as if there was hostility. I doubt there was now, and am sorry for the misunderstanding. It has been years since I have last been to a real forums, so i am a little rusty on forum etiquette. I will think more before any further action I take here on these forums. I would advise those who can't hold their tounge for lack of decent words, to do the same. Thank you, that will be all for now.

So that you know we're brutally honest here, Bidoof is a stupid name but the pokemon is somewhat of a comical relief, and the pokemon itself IS corny and sorry. But I am aware that some pokemon do have bad names, even in Japanese (Vespiquen is called "Beequeen"), but hey that's how Satoshi Tajiri/Ken Sugimori designed and named them, and we can't say or do anything besides go along with it as fans. A fangame however, we can say something because you have the ability to go back and change it, so no excuse on that. If someone didn't point out the names were bad it probably would've stayed, since the game is in development, take criticism no matter how good or bad it is, and since you're not near pro, you're gonna get a LOT of feedback, and you're welcome since you seem to have acknowledged that.

OK, I'm working on the new fire starter, my question is: How should it look?
Some ideas for the new starter's third evolution are:
A dragon thing (more dragon like then charizard)
A serpent covered in flame
A Griffin with flame wings.

if any of those are good, then tell me. If not, give me some other ideas.

Poke- let it evolve into a griffin. I'm thinkin' about a little lion cub with hummingbird wings

And I think that the only things that (absolutely) stink are the pokemon sprites and names. I would also suggest fire red/ leaf green graphics.
Also, Source code would be nice to put up. I see that you are using game maker- I might be able help with a bit as a programmer.
I am gonna raid the easter bunny of all of his chocolate.
How?
A simple net.
