The gradient's there on purpose.
That way it fulfills the 2 necessities, it's vector-base so it can be used for printing purposes (like say a shirt) and it appears to be pixel-based which would keep the theme of the name intact (to shut people up). But it'd take someone time to do anything since it needs more precision. It'd work but whether the results will be good is hard to say.
