That is indeed awesome.
Its been too long, but if I recall correctly, not only could you be petrified in the striking pose. But if enemies walk into your sword, even though you are petrified, they will still be damaged by it (assuming of course you're using a sword they can be damaged from).

Heh, while the fact some enemies were completely immune to some of the swords, there was one thing I remember. The tiny blue slimes in the first area, if hit with lightning (at least, I think it was lightning) would become a larger slime enemy.
