I draw cartoony/humanesque figures. It's like people who have like 4/5 of natural proportions all around but with cartoony hands/feet/face.
I do a alot of full body figures that way...well, almost full, I can never think of a suitable head. I always have people with circles heads.
And when it comes to drawing from life, realistically, I usually draw women, they're generally more interesting, have softer body types more suitable to my style which is very light/airy and usually have less baggy clothes than guys, makes for easier/more dramatic figures. I also, unlike most of my collegues at school, never overdo the boobs/butt/crotch. Everything's proportional. :o
Oh, also, that "half-crosshatching" is just hatching. Think about it. Cross hatching crosses hatches.
